Oscar Guzman

hello all,

I hope that this is not considered spam, but my former well, actually the only real flamenco guitar teacher I have ever had has released an album after a long while. It is available in itunes. Have a listen! I understand if this is not kosher mr. moderator. the album is called La Calle del Recuerdo.

In other news, there will be a Flamenco Festival in Montreal this September for my fellow Canadian foro members. I will pass on more info as it becomes available.

I don't think it's spam, I appreciate it, always good to know what's out there.
I really like the bulerias, and featuring Pepe De Lucia no less!

I met Oscar, his dancers, singers and second guitarist at a cafe in heathrow airport about five year ago. They were heading back to Seville after a performance in Poland.

Nice guy and a nice bunch, seemed to like my Barrios.

Oscar Guzman is a very nice and warm guy and a great teacher and guitarist. I believe his mentors were Rafael Riqueni and Pedro Sierra. He is based in Seville. He came to Montreal several years in a row when his playing brought him through to North America. However, like many flamenco artists, coming to North America is not economically viable for him and his ensemble. I remember Tomatito's rep person told me the same thing. As far as I know, Tomatito has never played a show in Canada. I am hoping that somehow Oscar's record will help him land some shows at the various Jazz festivals this summer in North America. He seems to be playing in Siberia at the moment!

I appreciate hearing about new releases here. I look forward to hearing about the festival in Montreal. Hopefully I can make the arrangements to go.
