Thanks, amigo! I hope you get well soon, having stomach problem is one of the worst feelings ever.

Adam's playing is amazing! I met him for the first time and he is a great, fun guy! And he is really scary good.

Here are a couple of other videos from last year event, the ones I deleted earlier. Oh, well...

Los Caireles by Sanlucar:

Impetu in Paco's edition by Escudero:

That Impetu part from 0:53 to 1:00 was perfect. At that speed and with no cejilla... that's suicidal...

You are the man Grisha. Olé!

Grisha,

Tienes un pulgar del demonio from 2:47 to 2:51. Reminds me to finish up this piece.

Loved that Impetu.

Even my girlfriend enjoyed it, and she is sick to the back teeth of me playing it. You should have seen the smug look she gave me after watching yours.

I can rest by I refuse! I know I can get good sound without resting if I practice. Because if I rest it will limit the tone range I can get with the rest of the fingers...

And Ricardo, I remember the conversation we had about my pulgar. My father seems to agree.

Greatly enjoyed the rest of the concert as well.
It's very cool to notice how many rasgueado sounds/styles are represented in this concert. Grishas rasgueados are of course incredible. They set the gold standard for what I wish mine would be. Defined, controlled, yet with a fierce - wake up the dead attitude.

But then, I often enjoy dirty and loose as well. Makes me think, while it might be possible to say that some players have more control over tone or are more meticulous about phrasing than others, there comes that point where skilled musicians have passed a certain level and all these details fade into the background of the sum of the players skills and general musicality. That also seems to be when the other, more general and perhaps more abstract things really come out.. like intentionality, story telling, drive, groove etc. Also, at this level risk taking or 'mistakes' become more like spice, keeping the listener engaged.

Ok, Don't know where I'm getting at with all of this.. I guess just a convoluted way of saying I love music and find it especially refreshing to see many musicians in what could be a very competitive setting without getting the feeling of a d.ick measuring contest.

I suddenly realized that 1 of my "original" Soleares falsetas was partly nicked from the intro of Vicente's Mineras.... again :-(

My guitar is a blanca by Lester DeVoe. I love it!

Yes, it's hard to get away from good music you've heard. I compose something that resembles something else all the time, and scrap it upon realizing the similarity. Frustrating!

Dirty, loose, deep, funky and spontaneously improvised.... none of that scripted missionary style stuff. She'll get "lost and bored" and next thing you know the dog no longer barks at the postman

RibNibbler, I invite you to not listen to that scripted missionary style stuff if you don't like it. Can't please everyone, it's natural.

??I ask you what guitar in the video?

i dont see a blanca.

It's curious, because last week i tried a devoe blanca, and the sound was totally different.no powerfull guitar.no old school sound.

and i find this devoe bad guitar for price.you are concertist, and i cant belive you play a guitar like that i tried.

So maybe devoe make good and bad guitars.

but why this guitar is black in the video?

My guitar is dyed blue, but it's cypress back and sides.

It did not sound like it does now at the beginning, took a couple of years to really start sounding great. I would never sell it, I love the sound. And it is not very loud upfront, but projects really well in a hall.

I like it so much that I ordered another one from Lester yesterday, a negra!

I was listening to a podcast you did and with your accent and those right hand machine gun bursts you remind me a lot of the Terminator

...but what wood is that on the fingerboard? Is it dyed too? It has a funny color.

There would be a bulerias track called "Talk to the hand" and a rumba "Hasta la vista baby"

A flamenco cover of the G'n'R song "You could be mine" full of reasgueados and picados would be the bonus track.
