Fandangos are very popular: every cantaor, incluso los gitanos, has a good repertoire. And in Huelva, they sing hardly anything else. And some great tocaores who can accompany for an hour without repeating a falseta.

On my CD with Jesus Montoya I play a fandango guitar solo and two tracks are dedicated to fandango naturales (or fandango grande) and jesus does about 5 or 6 different styles.

Both Sabicas and N. Ricardo borrow heavily from Ramon Montoya.

Ricardo I must say after watching you play your a very accomlished player and its great seeing that you have recorded. I have played since I was in the Marine Corps in 1966 and never woudl consider myself good enough to record and for that matter, never had the confidence that I was good enough to play for people. I salute you and the other accomplished players around here that have made the bridge to playing well for people and then to spread the music by recording. I would like to get yr cd, which means buying it. So anyway to all you guys who have taken the art to that level.

Salut Salut

I think that a Malageña doesnt have the typical Am ...then G..F ..E ..bass line fall kind of thing ..its a bit milder ...here is my intro anyway...

Malageña

I would say yes and no ....meaning that Malaguñas and fandangos are both major palos that themselves branch out into different things ,,,,,like Fandanguillos valverde ...and verdiales .... I would say it would be difficult to historically separate or connect what came from where accuratley to please everyone one that question ...

Awesome...it impacts me more than blazing picado jazzy bulerias with that timing and rhythm and traditional sound...really impressive

Doit and Kiko loved the vids too...Doit you remind of of a Victor Borge of flamenco (probably before your time)

That was seriously lovely Doit. .

It's good when we can laugh at our own pathos, however earnest it really is... shows REAL self confidence.

Thanks for posting this.

The video mentions tablature, but I didn't see the lesson posted on flamenco-teacher.com. Is the tab available elsewhere?

The tab was on my website, but it seems to have disappeared. I will try to figure out where it's at.

hardy har har.

Found it.
http://www.ricardomarlow.com/Ricardo_Marlows_Website/Fandangos.html

I just noticed a mistake in tab. (damn it's way harder to teach your own music rather than things you have learned elsewhere), the 2nd and 4th measures, the 2nd beat both times just reads C on the 3rd fret 5ht string and open E...but should be arpegio:

E------------------0---------------0-
B--------------0--------------------
G-----------1-----------------------
D------------------------------------
A-----3------------------2-----------
E-------------------------------------

Hahahaha I laughed pretty hard watching that. Your facial expressions cracked me up. Great playing by the way. You really got that special something going on.

Cheers,

I have been updating my website and thought I'd include this old lesson with tab:
