Fransisco Navarro Grand Concert vs. ...

Greetings All,
So might i ask what the members opinion is of Fransisco Navarro's Concert model blanca? What is the difference between the grand concert and the concert model? Is the money worth the upgrade in regards to sound? I am on the verge of an order and would love to hear the publics opinion. Any info you might all have would be GREATLY appreciated. I will by the pizza.

Muchas Gracias ~

The lower models he doesn't make, so they may vary to a greater extent in sound.

That is not correct. Francisco Navarro makes the Concert model himself, as well as the Grand Concert Special. Only the student model is made by his son Marlon, who incidentally is now signing his labels, as he should – he’s an accomplished luthier in his own right.

The differences are that the Concert model is Francisco’s own design, though I believe he uses a Santos bracing, whereas the Special Grand Concert is a copy of a Manuel Reyes blanca. Also it uses better materials in general, and is French Polished.

Obviously the SGC is a better guitar, but whether it is worth the difference might depend upon your playing level.

There is a grand concert flamenco that is different than the "special" grand concert Reyes model, however is priced above the concert flamenco model. Is the Grand Concert flamenco based on the reyes as well? i know that it is laquer finish unlike the "special" grand concert reyes model which is french polished?

Thank you all for your assistance

Mike ~

Yes, the Grand Concet model is above the concert model, but below the Special Grand Concert Reyes copy. Francisco also make those himself. It is not based on the Reyes.

However, his SGC Reyes has been getting rave reviews - I perform on one myself, and I can tell you it's awesome - so for now Francisco is focusing on the SGC and not really making any Grand Corcert.

Depending on your budget I think it would make sense to either get the SGC or the regular concert, which he still makes, though there will be a wait.

I have the Concert Blanca and love it. Lightweight, attractive design, and great sounding - signed by Francisco himself.

Here's a pic:

Greetings D,
indeed, did you choose to use the different head stock on it?

Best ~

It is a different headstock (more detailed) and has upgraded tuners from what the navarro website shows for the concert flamenco.
