Jairo Barrull - Barrull a Flamenco L...

INTERNATIONAL FLAMENCO STAR JAIRO BARRULL & COMPANY TO PERFORM AT THE MUMFORD THEATRE

Explosive Flamenco dancer Jairo Barrull, who is unmatched in his rapid footwork, presents his new show ‘Barrull, A Flamenco Legacy’ at the Mumford Theatre, Cambridge on Friday the 21st June 2013.

‘Barrull, A Flamenco Legacy’ is a show that reflects Jairo’s unique gypsy flamenco upbringing and his very unique personal style of footwork. A style that was pioneered by his father Ramón Barrull at the end of the 70s and later adopted and extended by Jairo into his own style, a dance style that is followed by many young contemporary flamenco dancers today.

Jairo Barrull, an internationally successful gypsy flamenco dancer from Seville, Spain, has been performing since he was 7 years old. His family are the well-known Amaya’s -Los Negros de Ronda, also known as the Diego Del Gastor family, whose artistic legacy stems back to the 19th century. During his artistic career Jairo has performed with notable flamenco artists such as 'El Chocolate', José de la Tomasa, Concha Vargas, Juana Amaya, Angelita Vargas, Farruquito, Carmen Cortes, Antonio El Pipa and Gerardo Núñez.

Jairo has performed in prestigious theatres all over the world including the Dansens Hus, Stockholm, the Theatre Avenida, Argentina, the Orchestre National de Lyon Auditorium as well as a performance at the Vatican for the Pope John Paul II when has was just 13 years old. Jairo has also performed at the Alte Oper of Frankfurt with German juggler Francis Brunn in ‘Incognito’ and at the Berliner Philharmonie in 2003, where the German press repeatedly declared him ‘The Hope of Dance’. Jairo has appeared on RTVE, The Community Channel UK, Localia Morón and starred in the internationally screened flamenco documentary ‘Around the Streets of New York’ by Canal Sur, when performing on Broadway with a flamenco troupe when he was 15 years old.

He has appeared in numerous magazines including Hotstepz Dance magazine, USA, Entrigue Entertainment Magazine, USA, IFamous Me, Russia, Flamenco News Magazine, London and Anda, Germany. He is also featured in French books ‘Peter Knapp flamenco’, by world famous Swiss photographer Peter Knapp (Vogue, Elle) and Balada Flamenca by Jean Louis Duzert.

‘Jairo Barrull is the show’s take-no-prisoners young firebrand’

To tell the story of his artistic heritage that has evolved during seven generations by way of gypsy flamenco dance forms, Jairo will be joined by first class gypsy musicians from Andalucía including flamenco singers: David El Gayi, Manuel de la Malena and flamenco guitarists Eugenio Iglesias and Ismael de Begoña.
