Culpepper SP/PD w/ soundport $2300

Hey everyone,
Unfortunately the client who I built this guitar for was unable to accept the guitar for personal reasons.
So now it's orphaned and up for sale.
It is a sweet guitar, one of the best negras I've made. Lots of volume and a percussive quality but a wide tonal range at the same time.

Top: Spruce
Back and sides: Padauk (Coral)
Neck/fingerboard: Spanish cedar/Ebony
Tuners: Pegheds planetary pegs
Scale length: 655 mm
Nut width: 53 mm
String spacing at bridge: 58 mm
String spacing at nut: 45 mm
Action: 2.9 bass, 2.4 treble
Case: TKL hard case

Price: $2300-

The guitar plays really really well with just a little rasp.

Free overnight shipping within the US, inquire for international shipping. 7 day return policy.

If you would like me to record something on the guitar and send it to you I would be more than happy to.

If you're interested please contact me at aculpepper@afewcrows.com
Thanks!

Andy, she's a killer for sure; as for the note to you earlier today, an addendum follows -- and maybe you should hitch down with Lynn, we have a couch!

RE: Culpepper SP/PD w/ soundport (in reply to Andy Culpepper

When I saw this post of Andy in the classifieds I wanted to leave a comment, but refrained, because of being just a too big fan of his work.
Digging it out today and seeing so little feedback, I think to post something.

Where I am the currency has been devalued down to 1/4 against the dollar. Without I might have bought it, eventhough not knowing how to get it to over here.
Guys, make sure to listen through a decent soundcard with decent headphones. This is not only bang for the buck, but a hell of a guitar.

I am in love with it. This is flamenco characteristics as it gets.
This thing must be feeling fantastic under your fingertips, otherwise there should be little chance of sounding this way.

And then the optics, - despite even of that hole in the side ... Just look at these colours alone!
I was looking at it for little ages, like at a sculpture.

Some may not be fully aware of what you can usually expect for such a money. This appears like a Mercedes SL for the price of a VW Polo.
You guys in NY state: Take a ride, and don´t forget your credit card! - I bet you will be wanting to use it.
... Lucky SOBs.

And if you do: PLEASE, write a review! I love to read it.

Hehe, thanks for being a fan Ruphus.
I know it's an unusual bird but the thing really does deliver great flamenco qualities, so I hope it will get some love from someone.
I haven't had one of my guitars to show around for a while so it's been nice to show this one to a couple of players and other builders (with great reviews so far). But yes I would like for it to find a permanent home.

I actually emailed this link to a couple friends who are loosely in the market for a new flamenco, it really does growl like a beast. I'd take it for my own if I had the extra cash.

While I don't know this particular guitar, I can tell you that I own Andy's first padauk/spruce guitar and it is stellar. For me, just the right string tension, and a fantastic but also out of the ordinary voice, making it a great complement to a traditional blanca, very loud, accurate intonation, really satisfying to play. I like it so much that I keep thinking of asking Andy to build me a cedar top blanca! Need to sell something else first, but Andy, be on the look out for an email sometime in the next few months...

I admire and like your work so much Andy. This is a very nice guitar. I'm particularly in love with your cutaway guitars and i'd love to order one of these oneday. Good luck with your sale.

I have his #4 cedar top blanca and its fantastic! I really love that guitar and while it has some scratches and dings from lots of use, it just seems to get better and better. One day I'll figure out how to upload a sample and show everyone how really great this instrument is...

I got the chance last week to play this new Culpepper -- it is really muy flamenca light, feels good to play, perfect intonation and set-up, loud as hell, great looking obviously -- an incredible bargain. Why didn't I buy it? Because I'll be getting a Culpepper 650/52.

I'm lowering this to $2300. Someone will get a nice deal. If you play in noisy environments this guitar is for you... it's loud and the soundport helps too. Very easy to play also. Also comes with a TKL hard case now.

I ended up buying this one. All I can say is everyone who thought about buying it and passed made a huge mistake. This guitar is on par in every way with Glenn Canin's amazing instruments but for half the price. I can't imagine it staying that way for too much longer. Anyone who is considering commissioning a guitar in the Northeast owes it to themselves to call Andy.

Thanks again Andy. I'm looking forward to enjoying it as it opens up and playing it for years.

Well Kenjo luckily Andy can make another. And a commission from him is barely more than this. I really can't recommend Andy enough. There might not be another guy East of the Mississippi, yet West of Anders Eliasson, making such high quality affordable guitars who is also as pleasant and helpful to deal with.

Good that this is over. It made me pull my hair all the time, seeing how people obviously can´t hear what is there in a recording just too obviously. - Let alone the original customer who neglected it.

A friend of mine was considering this one lately, but passed on it in the end, thinking that he wasn´t worth adding to the two high end guitars he owns.

That was a huge mistake, just as Maniates says.

Anyway, what counts is that this beautiful treasure will be appreciated, and that appears to be the case.
Enjoy! :O)

Ruphus-

You were correct man. The sound in the video is only a hint at the big huge flamenco balls this thing drags behind it. :)
