Vicente Carrillo wants to be friend ...

I'm not a big fan of Facebook altho' I'm a member. I received an invitation two days ago from Vicente Carrillo who wanted to be friends with me. Surprised as I was as I have never purchased from Carrillo and I wonder how he learned of my interest in flamenco. I accepted the offer but I would like to know if any member has received similar requests from him or other guitarreros.

the answer should be very obvious.
for example, my facebook tells me that you and I have 2 amigos en común, one of them is a guitarrero! could you imagine how many flamenco friends you have in common with him? and thats why he added you, it showed up in his suggestions

I closed my facebook, because it ended up being spammed with andalucian crap, guitarbuilders etc. It was only one thing publicity.

Yes, it was my own fault.

You need to be careful with FB ... but I think it can be a great way to promote yourself. I "liked" Salvador Castillo's page
and was very surprised that he puts out a newsletter with all kinds of interesting stuff.

All these social network pages (FB, twitter, linkedin etc) are something that I´ve decided to stay out of. My experience is that its a total time and energy waster and an extremely good example of how empty and hollow our socalled progressed (post)modern society is.

Progressed in technological terms.

In respect of sophistication, progress peaked in the seventies, only to basically make a U-turn after the shatter of progressive youth´s and intellectual´s hope and vision.

Now human / societal / economical related science is step by step confirming the reasonableness of past rebell´s objections and demandings, but remaining vastly unnoticed with the relevance of its findings by todays spirit that isn´t capable anymore of reading coherence.

Just mentioning what a majority here will be knowing anyway.

I used to wonder how come that FB ( that I never joined) sends me invitations to meet acquaintances on its portal, or how there are pictures of acquaintances presented to me in pop-ups on newspaper websites, trying to lurk me in to FB.
Until a fellow foro member explained to me that FB accesses its members´mailbrowser address book to file connections.

I have two guitars by a reasonably well-known guitarrero of which one I bought directly from his shop, he invited me via Facebook a few years ago and of course I accepted his invitation, but since then, I have never received anything from him. I can only buy a third guitar if I get rich, but I have never thought of Carrillo although he is famous and I think he made some of the PDL and Tomatito range of guitars. The one I would consider might be by Juan Manuel Gonzalez or Eliasson, I'm waiting for their invitations . Just a joke.

I bought my lovely guitar from Facebook, on Castillo's page, I was just checking out the pictures which turned into comments, into private message, into paypal! I am glad i was on there before anyone bought it

Well, you´re welcome to visit me in my home or around, but no FB. I might also accept an invitation to see you at your place or thereabout.

Thanks Anders for your invitation. When I bought my last guitar, I didn't know about your work. I drove a return trip of over 5000km to buy my present guitar. I would have gone to your place from Sevilla which is roughly the same distance to Cadiz! I found confusing that all guitarreros claim their guitars sound flamenco and made with the best wood, prices vary from €3000 to €18,000, and listening to mp3 sound samples is not particularly helpful. From listening to all the CDs, the guitar I've fallen in love with is the one used by Sabicas in cutting the record Flamenco On Fire (the very first tape I had, which I still have), the sound is crystal clear and belllike (a Bernabé?). I had no idea that I was listening to the best. At the time, one of the most sought-after guitars was a Ramirez III. A friend of mine ordered one from Spain via a music shop and had troubles in tuning it because of the pegs, touted by Juan Martin that it gave a more flamenco sound. That was a good while back.

Do you reply all your spam, or just some?
