Hello from Portland, Oregon

Hi ya'll! I've been lurking on this site for about 5 or 6 months I think, but just recently started posting here and there. I've been playing guitar for over 15 years, but only been playing Flamenco for about 1 year and 8 months. I love the style, and rarely even pick up my Gold Top Gibson Les Paul anymore! Less than two weeks ago I bought my first flamenco guitar - a Francisco Navarro Concert Blanca - I can't get enough of it! I learned on a classical up to about a month ago. I practice over an hour per day, and when I can, 2 hours. I've averaged just over 1.5 hours per day since July 2011 (yes I keep track). I have to balance my guitar playing with being a husband and a new father (to a gorgeous 3 month old little girl) so it's been a little less guitar playing lately (a fair trade, I might add!).

My reperoire includes several pieces from Paco Pena's Toques Flamenco book (Farruca, Soleares, Rumba, and Tarantas), a Sabicas Farruca (Punta Y Tacon), and several of the pieces from Juan Martin's advanced book (Rondenas, Solea Por Medio, Tangos, Rumba, Zambra Mora, etc.), and several of Juan Martin's intermediate pieces as well. My favorite piece to play is the Juan Marting Rondenas, it is a real nice piece. I haven't stated writing any of my own pieces yet...

By day I'm a Mechanical Engineer by way of Texas A&M.

Hi and welcome to Foroflamenco.

Sounds very familiar

You seem to have done a lot in 1 year and 8 months; well done

Welcome. It's tough to find the time regularly enough. I had a long lay off from playing and it has taken me a couple of weeks to get my finger memory back. However, I can read tabs as well (or as poorly) as I used to.
