My photo of the week 47+

Had to share this algae bloom on the Grand Union Canal in London today. Quite spectacular.

WOW! That's a great photo! That could be the cover to a great coffee table book, about what I dunno but it's for sure pretty. Is that algae bloom natural? When we get algae blooms here in LA it's due to pollution and were not allowed in the water....

The photo is very nice. Very strictly composed. But the whole feel makes me sick. I dont like algae bloom and I wouldnt take lapwing for a swing. Imagine falling into this soup

I follow you, but at the same time, the boat is very organic and not specially geometric. Boats have very few straight or parallel lines. Thats what make them so beautifull.

To a mathematician/physicist/engineer like me curves can be geometric when they have a certain rhythm. And yes, boats. One of the most beautiful objects I have ever seen is the Gokstad ship at the Viking ship museum at Bigdoy in Oslo. Perfectly utilitarian and sublimely beautiful.

Lush[1]: 1. (of vegetation) abounding in lavish growth. 2. (esp. of fruits) succulent and fleshy. 3. luxurious, elaborate or opulent.

Lush[2]: U.S. slang - 1. a heavy drinker, esp. an alcoholic 2. an alcoholic drink.

Also it is used colloquially in the UK to mean something good or attractive in some way. At least, it is used in that way in Bristol, hence the Bristolian expression "Gurt Lush" which the Bristolian online dictionary i just checked translated as "Rather nice"

In the way "lush" is being used for certain sonic quality in the audio engineering realm, I understood it like "strong / full".

In respect of guitars I use it to describe properties of an instrument with strong / deep fundamentals in conjunction with good intonation / harmony that lead to a bold sound stage. - Hopefully, chosing terms somewhat correctly this way.

The kids use 'lush' a lot in Bath, but not heard "gurt lush".
