Advice on Bartlett mic B

I purchased a Bartlett mic B last December and only got down to try it recently as I had a broken tendon on one of my fingers and it had taken 9 months to heal. But it seems to me the mic doesn't work and I just want to make sure that I had everything plugged in correctly before I send it back to Bruce for a check.

Mic B on the guitar rossette (not a cutaway) + fresh 9v battery connected via a new lead to the box, then to the amp.

As simple as that but is this correct?
Thanks in advance.
