Paco de Lucia Box Set

I understand that the original 26-CD edition of the boxset includes a "Listener's Guide," whereas the 2011 27-CD re-issue does not.

Can an owner of the original edition post a review of the Listener's Guide booklet? Who is the author? Are the notes insightful? Etc.

Thanks

there are two booklets one with an extensive biography in spanish and english....the other listening guide I did not really look at much was more description of the pieces in the collection. I found the bio very interesting and valuable but the booklet not so much.

Thanks for the feedback, Ricardo. The OOP 2003 edition w/ booklets is $300+ shipped to the U.S. versus the 2011 reissue at $125.

Definitely the cheaper reissue is the way to go. The booklets are not that great and in no way whatsoever justify the cost difference (this version just wasn't on offer when I invested, I was just a bit early).

Paco Sevilla's book (Paco De Lucia: A New Tradition for the Flamenco Guitar) might be a nice companion as you make your way through the music.

If you can swing it, get the Camaron set as well (or even first!), I enjoy this more and all the early CD's and to varying degrees the later CD's, paco is the guitarist.

Thanks ptmikulski, I purchased Sevilla's book directly from the author when it was originally published. I enjoyed it very much.

In fact, the author should consider an expanded, updated version.

Hi Gounaro, I believe the least expensive 2011 reissues of this box set are from several European sellers listed on US Amazon. There's also a seller from Greece listed on US Ebay.

Good luck.
