I'm waiting for your April 1 post about how you bought a CG171F and this guitar showed up by mistake instead...

The other guitar on couch, by look of bridge and finish might be an older sobrinos de esteso...unless Felipe is making guitars like that now?

That's one of the most crap-sounding Condes I've ever heard, and I actually love Condes...
Sounds like a low student grade classical.
I guarantee I can make a better guitar than that for 1/4 the money

Just goes to show that even though he has the Reyes he is still on the lookout.

I don't believe there is any one guitar that has everything. That's why we all seem to want more.

I agree that the strong sound of modern condes could be described as plastic. But i don't see it as a bad thing. It's just another sound.

Listen to this conde. It's plastic sounding as well. But I like it!

Or this guitar. I'm not sure which maker made it. It sounds super plastic. But the response and separation is off the scale. I'd buy it just from this video alone. Nice woody, sweet classic sounding flamenco guitars are nice. But sometimes i find that sound boring and want something more in your face. If that sound is plastic? I'm in!!

In this Felipe Video,,,,,,well maybe Felipe asked him to come over and try out ....or he is really looking for a new Guitar...who knows

My dogs are named Felipe and Mariano, so in a manner of speaking, yes, you did.

For the record, I don't own a dog...but I do love the sound of Rey's Reyes.

hmmm. well, that reyes (Rey plays Reyes and javier Conde plays Conde thanks god) as most, is pretty sickening sweet with tons of sustain and overtones, those tweety bird trebles up high, and when he drives those rasgueados hard....well, those guitars sound good when you don't play em so hard. Condes have more dynamic thanks to dryness or the "plastic" sound????

Whatever is going on with construction designs, if you want to compete with your guitars you should try to do even close to that good with your own models FIRST....then later claim you will out do em for lower price. How about you build me a guitar sounds half as good as that conde and I will pay you double your asking price. Good luck.

seriously without dog kicking, there are taste issues with guitars....like sherries there are super sweet ones and super dry ones. That's why we need more then one kind of guitar in most cases.

I assume he used this very guitar to record his new CD. To my ears, both from this video and the CD, the guitar sounds completely FLAT. It sounds like all the notes have the same volume. I hope he returns to his Conde.

Man, I would love to have that opportunity!

Seriously though, as I said, I LIKE Condes... that sound has been a huge influence in my building. But this is what I think of as that "good Conde sound"
I guess I am just a blanca man

Yeah, but I wonder what that Conde Rey is playing in the first video would have sounded like if Morao had played it in that cut from Flamenco Flamenco. And vice versa. The players and recordings are just so different. The Rey video was captured from the side, in a very acoustically reflective room, on a cellphone or something. The Morao video is a professional studio recording. Second is the playing style. Rey has a lot more nail in his attack than Morao, which gives him a brighter, sharper sound.

RE: Antonio Rey plays a Conde (in reply to Arash

That Conde sounds great but it's not 100% to my taste. It has a more "metallic" edge which is more along the lines of what I like in a guitar and it has a lot of weight in the trebles.
Of course it is totally dependent on the player, room, and recording setup.
Still from everything I've heard I prefer Conde blancas. But that is JUST ME I'm not insulting anyone who likes those guitars, just giving my opinion.

Totally pointless to judge the sound of any guitar through a video
camera mic.

I love his playing though.

From my experience all new Felipe condes more or less sound similar to the guitar Antonio is playing in that video. They all mature differently though but that harshness in the sound that is disliked by many will almost always stay.
