Problem with soundboard doming

Hi Friends

I've got a problem with one of my guitars. I've built a guitar at the Romanillos guitarmaking course in 2006 in Spain. The humidity when i have assembled that guitar was around 50 and 45%. Unfortunately i didn't managed to finish that guitar at the course as 14 days was just too little time to get it done even when we often worked til midnight. So i had this guitar stored in my sleeping rooms over the years until i finally managed to french polish it. Now the french polish is on and the next step would be to glue the bridge to the soundboard. Today i have realized (was rather shocked) that the doming of the soundboard is no longer 2mm as it was when the guitar was built but rather 4mm. So the bridge which i have adjusted to that original doming doesn't fit anymore. So what the heck could be the reason for that heavy increase in the soundboard doming? The wood i have used when the guitar was built was dry too.

By logic it must be humidity. O.k. Switzerland is a country where we have big differencies in humidity and temperature whithin a short period of time, but that's outdoors. Indoor humidity might oscilate between 40 and 70% over the year but it doesn't change that quickly as it does outdoors. I have all my guitars stored in that same room and non of the others shows a similar problem (o.k. they were built in Switzerland). Currently my higrometer indicates 52% air humidity in that room.

Does anybody experienced similar problems?

Anders, do you have a clue what could have happened to that guitar?

regards

Armando

Nope, nothing else but what you´ve written yourself. Try drying it slowly down to some 40% over a couple of weeks.
