master guitarists and their guitars

hello experts out there!

i often wonder which guitars my heros play, but it's difficult to find out.
is there a list or something on the internet?

i want to get a feel what different flamenco guitar types are out there and would like to be able to recognize the sound of luthiers when i hear them.

e.g.:
-who plays barba?
-which guitar is this?
-what guitar plays diego amaya, or miguel angel cortes??
...

and so on...

is there is source of information on this topic on the web?

thank you very much for your time and help.

y viva luis de la pica

Nino de Pura played an extremely brightly sounding barba, till it got wasted in the back of a car that had an accident. Then, he switched to Conde. As result to that, his playing doesn´t sound so cheesy anymore. Thank god that his Barba has been terminated.

Its a Marvi. They´re good. Aggressive bright sound,.. and even on a negra.. But they are very heavy.

Depends on the time. At least Miguel changed during the last years.

Flamenco guys tend to change guitars or have a variety of guitars unlike classical players who usually stick to one maker... I think :)

Here's a website that list some guitarists and guitars they've used:

http://www.flamenco-gitarre.de/gitarren.html#top

I think there was also a post somewhere that listed guitarists and guitars they use. I'd say most play on one of the above:

Conde, Reyes, Ramirez, Devoe, Barba, Bernal, or Gerundino

Marvi are more than good, in my opinion these are really top class guitars.
the Caviuna Nigra double sides is incredible from all point of view...except for weight (they are really heavy)!

You'd expect them to be good for 6000 euros

Please say you did not just write that. A Conde in place of a Barba! EEWWWWH. YUCK.

The Conde' company probaby paid someone to keep Nino de Pura under surveillance and then when they saw him put the Barba in the trunk they chased him and rear ended his trunk to smash the Barba on purpose. Then they pretend to feel bad for him and give him a Conde'.

LMAO, I can picture it exactly like a Stride bubble gum commercial, Conde 2.0 new and improved, made in China

It is a good question but let's not forget that there are a lot of unknown or less popular guitar makers out there that make awesome guitars even if the big stars don't play their instruments.

Indeed it seems like many guitarists use Condes - in their Encuentro vids especially- which seems like a marketing move.
