Ramzi, its great!! Honestly, seriously. Would have been better if you didnt speed it up, but still its clear that you have put in some work and musicality in this arrangement and this is all that matters to me. Not whether its flamenco, pop or whatever kind of music. I also wanted to do some pop covers, only i dont have the time
I sped it up so that the listener can get a feel for what the arrangement will sound like at tempo. I did this in one take, without practice, so clearly, I was unable to play it at the original tempo directly.

I do think it's funny that with all the cool Flamenco stuff that I post, my version of the Chan Chan guitar solo is quickly becoming my most viewed video. Musta been how PdL felt with EDA

I ain't going to get many views on this one. The original person who came up with the arrangement that most people have copied on YT (including this long-haired dude Deniz posted, who I believe is mostly a copy-cat) only got 500,000 views, versus the Korean kid who got 17 million views for the same arrangement played more crappily than the crappy original!

It's amazing though. I mean, are my ears so superb, or are people so lazy, that nobody bothered to come up with the CORRECT chords to that Pirates of the Caribbean tune? I mean, you can all go back to telling me that there is no "correct and wrong" chord choice if it sounds OK, but when you compare my arrangement with the original, and the original dude's arrangement with the original, you'll notice that mine sounds much better. But I'm not going to get into that again now...

PS: Deniz, this took me only a couple of minutes to work out and record. So time is not a huge issue when it comes to pop stuff. It's not like flamenco...

Ramzi, dont know why youre bashing the guy i posted? He has a good understanding of the fretboard. You just posted a speed up video, so you should really be more chill about it all. I thought you just posted for fun and sharing. If you get 1 Million views cool, if not cool either, aint it?

You do pretty much the best guitar covers out there. I enjoy everything you post because you have such a precise rhythm and good ear for melody and harmony. Of course posting under "Amazing Flamingo Guitarist / Cat Using Toilet Paper" couldn't hurt any!

Deniz, I think you might have gotten something lost in translation in regards to my post.
This is the original dude I was referring to:
He's the first one to have come up with the "He's a Pirate" guitar arrangement on YouTube. The person you posted a video of, Igor Presnyakov, just made a video where he plays the exact same arrangement of the original dude (who's name is Wolfgang Vrecun). So I don't really see what he's done with that video there. Igor has about 170 videos on his channel. He gets TONS of hits too. However, if you go over his videos, you will find that his arrangements are mostly watered down renditions of better fingerstyle arrangements that have been posted earlier on YouTube. That is why I said that I am not a huge fan of Igor's.
About my video: the reason I posted it was because a friend of mine who knows nothing about guitar told me he likes this tune. He saw Wolfgang playing it on YouTube, and asked me if I could play it too. I said I'll try to make him a video. After listening to the actual soundtrack, I noticed that Wolfgang's version sounded close, but was overly complicated and inaccurate. So I decided to make my own arrangement. I didn't have time to practice it and get it up to original tempo, so I just sped it up digitally. The reason is that the friend of mine would appreciate it better if it were in the same key and tempo as the original. I then felt that this might be a nice video (even though digitally tampered with) to include on my channel, considering that I might later do a tutorial about my arrangement of this tune. I figured, if I got any responses, I'd go through with that. If not, then I won't, considering I don't really give a crap about the Pirates of the Caribbean.
However, it just occurred to me that this is totally buleria-izable.

This looked more natural to me, while crossleged was more static mechanical.....I always wandered if that was for recording purposes
Well, frankly, I have more control over the guitar when I sit cross-legged. It's more stable, and doesn't tend to fall. I can move my left hand more freely. It helps with my picado position for the right hand. However, I feel my pulgar, arpeggios, and tremolo are better in the traditional position. Maybe if I get used to the traditional position, picado will feel comfortable that way too.
Sometimes I use the traditional position to make sure the guitar shows properly in the video. Other times I use it because my back hurts from sitting cross-legged, or because my right leg goes numb from being over my left thigh/knee. If I want to sing and play, I need to use the cross-legged position because it moves the guitar away from the microphone allowing the vocals to sound louder and not be masked by the guitar (I don't have a good mic stand, and I only have one mic).
Sorry man, the original dude's is more musical and "orchestral" with the low D and overall dynamics and style. There is a swing to it you are missing, and overall the original dude evokes imagery of the movie when I heard it. Not sure which "chord" you think you improved on, but if I were you I would learn the orginal, make your correction in that context, then speed it up to buleria. I mean speed it up FOR REAL not your digital fakery.

That's your opinion and I respect it, Ricardo. However, I "know" that I improved on the chords because I heard the orchestral music score from the film and based my arrangement on it. Other respectable musicians like Kelly Valleau (see his video in this thread) arranged the tune like mine - check out how Kelly plays it and tell me if you feel the same as you felt (negatively) about mine, considering he does it at full speed non-artificially, and injects more dynamics into it. About speeding it up - I just made that arrangement, played it once, and never got back to it. It was a request by someone. If I get back to it, I'll try to get it faster. Cheers!
