Hey! Ramon.

Good to read you on Foro. I'm sure they will be good guitars.
When are you next back in Glasgow?

Hola Escribano and buenas dias!!!

"Sean, you are such a grump Don't you mean "I have never played a Bernal, good at any price"? "

Sadly, I have played many and repaired many. 90% of the guitars which have passed through the taller with the head broken off have been B........ curious? A friend, professional player, has a Valeriano for sale which cost him 150,000ptas and noone will buy. Another professional player has a primera especial 1978 for 2000 euros which nobody wants. Give me an Sanchis Carpio any day ( or a Rafael Lopez or an Ander´s or an Escribano!!)

Suerte

Sean

Hola amigo. You're going to have to wait for the Escribano (god name for a guitar, though). I am hoping for an apprenticeship under Anders, but I haven't told him that yet

I feel like I must stand up for Bernals as I have a '78 negra which I love. It has an unusual, slightly "nasal" tone and plently of growl, which sounds great when accompanying cante or playing Jerez style buleria. I have played a few Prodigios in Spain and think they are great for what they cost - definately a Jerez sound, not for people who prefer a more "classical" bell-like sound.

Hear, hear. Regardless of what any of them would say, all Jerez guitarists play and use some Valeriano or another, goes perfectly with the Jerez style as above noted. His more expensive models aren't as good quality as his cheaper ones, i'll grant that. But to say they're all rubbish is nonsense...
