Niño Miguel for M. Cho

Michael,

A while back you posted some comments about Niño Miguel. I couldn't find the original post , so I'm starting a new thread. I dug through my old cassettes and finally found one with Niño Miguel on it. As I said before, I lost the original LP along with about 30 others during a house move. I have part of his first LP recorded on a crummy old cassette. I haven't listened to that one in 20 years and had completely forgotten about him until your post. Upon relistening to it today I have to say that the guy is (was) incredibly good. I had his 1st LP which was released just after PdL did "Fuente y Cuadal" and Niño Miguel's LP is kind of a copy of that. Is it available on CD or did you hear someone elses copy? If it's still in print I highly recommend that people here check him out.

For those of you who aren't familiar with Niño Miguel, in the early '70s many people thought that he would be the next PdL. He released 2 solo albums and then had some knd of mental breakdown. He's probably about 50 years old now and it's said that you can sometimes find him playing on the streets in Huelva. It's really sad, as the guy was a super talented guitarist on a level with PdL. I'm 99% sure that he is Tomatito's uncle. Can anyone here verify that?

Phil

Yeah,

Niño Miguel is Tomatito's uncle.

There's an informative article in Spanish at teh following site:

http://www.almeriacabal.com

Under aficionado cabal, click the más link (it's hypertext), then

click the arrow in: EL NIÑO MIGUEL UN GUITARRISTA DE LEYENDA
Norberto Torres Cortés ->

The > sign above may serve as a live link, but I'm not sure it'll work that way once this post is on Foroflamenco.

Paleto,
Thanks, that's a very interesting article. According to the article, his 2nd LP was reissued as a CD in 1999. I'll have to see if I can find it.

Phil, I listened to him on one of those re-issue like CDs that they have a lot of for flamenco, at least in Sevilla. Perhaps you could find him on sale at Corte Ingles!

I have a Niño Miguel CD that is very good. I believe it's from the Grandes Guitarras del Flamenco series. This guy gives me goose bumbs. It's a shame he never became what he was supposed to be and yes he is Tomatito's uncle.
