Offering 2A guitars - $2000

Hi everybody,
I've decided to start a line of 2A guitars. These guitars will use 2nd grade woods that are often cheaper for cosmetic reasons but can be made to sound just as good as the master grade woods, and are still in fact beautiful and stable. Spanish cypress and spruce, or a 1st grade cedar top.
They will not feature my handmade rosettes, or back and side purflings, or mitered tie block inlays.
Scale length is 650 mm and not customizable, but string spacing, action, etc. is.
This is a player's Blanca on a budget, and will still get my full attention to detail and craftsmanship, as well as fine-tuning of sound.
The finish is still 100% French polish.

I'm offering these at $2000 which includes shipping but you pay for the case of your choice.

e-mail me if interested.

Thank you!

My previous posts have been removed as I think the topic of discussion was not appropriate for this particular section.

One of the things I´m REALLY tired of on this forum, is the amount of messages about prices that luthiers charge from someone who´s been here for a very short time.
What do you guys want us to do. Give away the guitars or live like street dogs. In my case, I earn a little less an hour than a car mechanic and Andy (Deterresa) most probably earn less than that. What should we be earning? Nothing? How much do you earn mr. bule_b

Bule_b, it's not your age that's keeping you from understanding this particular example of capitalism. I don't know what the underlying issue is, or why it even matters in the first place, but either way it's probably in everyones best interest if you reserve the pricing critiques for sections outside of the classifieds (or PMs). Only a suggestion.

Thank you everybody who has supported me here...

I earn very very little right now, not enough at all for most people, but I don't have a family to support, have a tiny apartment, drive a car from 1995 etc so I can live pretty cheap. (well car repair is not so cheap actually). I was doing much better as a house painter.
I fully expected guitar making to be a struggle for the first few years but I love it too much to stop now.
The thing I like about guitar making from a business perspective though, is that if you are creating a great quality product, you really can work your way up to a comfortable living eventually. So that's what I've been focusing on.
Honestly I am more worried about my guitars being priced too LOW and undercutting other luthiers. But I think my prices are fair for being relatively unknown, and I know the quality of my output is good. Every day is an adventure

RE: Offering 2A guitars - $2100 (in reply to Andy Culpepper

I think a guitar is worth what the marketplace says it is worth at that particular time, for that particular guitar, in that particular marketplace. All of that, of course, could change within a minute or a day or a week. People's interests shift, demand shifts, prices change. The market for a guitar can go up or down, like any other instrument or product. If a luthier can sell his hand-made guitars for the price he wants in the marketplace, then it is a fair price -- and more power to the luthier for providing a product that someone(or several people) are demanding and will pay for. People may complain about the price, but they are free to buy something else at a different price, or they are free to wait to see if the price changes on the guitar they are pursuing. This is why we have so many different luthiers and different guitars to choose from and different prices. Look around, there always seems to be something available if you look --- if the demand is there, someone, somewhere, will step up to fill that demand. that's my 5 cents worth.
