Affedis prices

Ive just looked on the affedis site and noticed the prices have gone up!!? France must be doing well while surrounding countries struggle I think.

Yes, I agree that the prices are a little bit high at affedis. But the good side is, the tabs are very good. If you don´t pay for a tab-flat but rather buy 2-3 tabs a year... its a very good source IMO. I bought some very nice tabs. I like Fauchers work.

Im not interested in playing complete pieces and i could imagine other people also just learn/hear out the stuff they like and leave the rest aside. He should sell the tabs falseta by falseta, and lower the price, say 5 Euros per falseta. I'd be definitely interested in such a deal, but i really dont see myself paying 20 for a full piece if all i want is just one falseta.

In general a good idea. He has falseta collections of Paco and Tomatito. But 5Euros 1 falseta.. thats even more than paying 14Euros for a whole composition with maybe 10 falsetas..

that would be a disaster

I'm not gonna pay as many of faucher's works including these collections are available for free over the net

Faucher is expensive, but he's accurate and he's done a lot for us guitarists even if that wasn't his primary intention...most of his stuff is stolen and he's making up for it by raising prices, i can't blame him...when i have the money i'll continue to buy his tabs or books to support him so that he makes more tabs...my only regret is that he doesn't seem to be fond of the more modern stuff out there that i would love to get my hands on...

personally i dont need tabs. he could make a slow video that would be sufficent, saves time for him to write it down. he should offer slow videos and he should accept falseta requests. id be interested in that coz hearing out stuff can be very nerv wrecking. btw elie, try to hear out something and then come back to this thread IMO.

his tabs are very accurate, but way to overpriced imo.
I mean if I buy 2 tabs it will cost me almost €40
(are is his tabs still handwritten btw?)
I think he would sell more if he lowered the prices to lets say €10 for one tab?
But again his tabs are indeed very good, but I'm not seeing myself buying anything, also because most of his tabs are free available on the net..

btw why doesn't he sell his paco stuff on his website?

Please trust me on this... if you tried to tab what he tabbed, then you would feel like charging 100€ per tab. Just try to tab one thing only once for christ sake Its hours, and hours, and hours, in each tab.

depends on the difficulty too, and it's much easier to tab libre than anything in compás...it took me about 3 hours to tab A la Nana, about an hour and a half for the Carmona Rondena, which is short, but i'm over two hours for Diego's soleá and i'm only through the first minute and a half...and that's typing them into text and not making a normal tab...
shall i set up a paypal account so you guys can donate when i put them up here?

I do not agree. Honestly i think his tabs are quite bad. Wrong fingering in flamenco means wrong sound, wrong feeling - wasted hours.
I would pay 20euros for an accurate falseta i like, any day.

PS. I have tabbed many times (falsetas not pieces), and i am pretty sure it is accurate.

I did not know about these tabs. I see opinions vary about if they are good or not.
Are they hand written or computer generated, like guitar pro with both music and tab notation?
And the Tio Arango that is going around, that is hand written, is it from there?

His oldest transcriptions (up to about 1990) might have mistakes but everything else of his that I've seen is accurate. Maybe he did those early transcriptions without a computer to slow down the music without changing pitch. I don't know him but I think he's done a lot for flamenco guitarists.

Perhaps i was to harsh to call his tabs bad. I think they are ok, but I think in flamenco, the fingering imposes the character of the music to be played.
A misplaced ligado, or a note on the wrong string, usually means that what you play is and sounds wrong.

I have had this many times, and it is frustrating to learn something wrong and lose hours trying to make a decent sound, when in fact what the player originally played is very easy and sounds good.

Example for me is the recent tab for the challenge. The falseta is great, but the tab has minor faults that you have to find out. It took me more than 2 hours to correct it viewing the slow video. But if it was correct in the first place, learning the falseta from the tab alone, would be a rough 30minutes.

Just my opinion though.

No problem. I really cant comment on the quality of his tabs. I really dont use tab in a way that i 100%ly rely on whats being written. More often i find things, can be little fingerings or even other chords, that i find musically more pleasing. So i see it like this: use the tabs to get the notes. Use the audio/video to get the music.

But thats just MY system, and others get along very well by playing after tabs etc...

I have to agree with alot of what is said here. He provides us with- on the whole- excellent tabs that provide hours of enjoyment. I couldnt even begin to transcribe the stuff he has done and cant see me having time to do it in the future. When you look at the fact that it probably takes hours days or months to work out the songs then the prices seem fair or even cheap!!. I just think its bad timing thats all.

IMO
who purchases alain's stuff is definitely not a beginner therefore anyone using

a computer to slow down the music without changing pitch.

is able to transcribe the song easily and without cost and also with couple hours I believe

Rogeliocan!!! Amigo mio! Aqui esta la respuesta.

Hello, are your partitions hand written?
yes all the pieces listed in the general catalog of tablature transcriptions are hand written only (including V. Amigo)

or computer generated with both the music and tab scores?
in the books all is written both music + tab, computer typographied.

So I take it the hand written Tio Arango I have seen in the past is from him. I can't get myself to use these hand written partitions they just look too croowded and they lack time info.

sheesh, they have too! People used to complain about the price, 20Euro's per tab, but it used to be cheaper to buy 2 tabs (about 15Euros's?) and even cheaper to buy 3 (i think about 10Euro's).

10Euro's seems an ok price to me, but now he seems to have abolished this.
