Granada Hoy - interview

In today's paper there is an interview with foro member Estela. She came to Granada a week or so ago to give a lecture on basic flamenco palos. Very enjoyable to hear demonstrated the difference between the regions and interpretations of tangos and bulerías with a great slideshow and examples.

Anyway here s the interview, and a great photo of her as well

It's a gorgeous photo! She really carries that dress well. Will take me a while to read the article but I'll persist - am sure it will be worth the trouble.

Persevere, its very interesting what she says about the flamenco industry. There was a few posts form a local promoter I know on facebook disputing what she was saying, but in the end it just confirmed that promoters are part of the industry making flamenco commercial potentially and focussing on the well known and established artists to the detriment of many others who never get a step up. Am looking forward to interviewing her myself for the English magazine in Granada, focussing on flamenco life as a foreigner. I did an interview with Pimiento for the mag as well which should come out middle of the month. I will post the link here as well as face book. That one at least will be in English :)

Yeah I did persevere and it was worth it!! Actually it wasn't as hard as I first thought, so I reckon my Spanish is improving a bit - at last!
