This has been going on a while now...and I'm sorry to hear that.
On a more positive note, you can become a "character" with a walking stick!
When I used to walk my dog, I'd often meet and have a chat with a very old lady, terribly upper class, walking her little bulldog.
When the dog got a bit out of hand she used to hook the curved end of the walking stick around it's neck and pull it to heel saying "Major!...Come here NOW SIR!!"...and the dog (looking half-strangled) completely surrendered and complied...
Orignal: Anthony you can also throw them at people when they go out of compas.
I'll do that with the second one,...it has a nice sharp edge :)

Thanks Ron, monday I'll see a neurologist again. It indeed has been "bothering" me for quite some time now. The first stick can help me around the house.....the second one was indeed a nice flamenco accesoire , that exactly the reason why I choose it. Perhaps I wanted to become a "character" without knowing it myselves.
All by all, I got paid by the goverment to use morphine, how about that!

Thanks D., I could only wish Cuddy could take care of me, but we had an argument a while ago that she wanted to have children and I don't. But hey, House was able to skateboard again, so guitarplaying will shortly be another option for me, and otherwhise I will play compas at dancing classes with my magic stick

Good News! Yesterday went to the neurologist for the thirth time and see immediatly saw this needs some action. My left foot is completly paralyzed and 24/7 they are cutting with knives in my leg, but next week I get an MRI scan, and shortly after that an operation.
To bad I wont get any Valium and Morphine anymore, on the other hand I will be able to play again, now thats an easy choice!

No, the will do surgery in my spinal column. Some herniated discs causes the pain and the paralyses. So they will remove a part from the herniated disc so that the nerves wont be touched anymore and I'll be relieved from pain.
It will fix it completely, but it isn't for sure that it will never comeback. Statistics about it differ, so I'll see.

You'll be fine. You'll just get up from bed and walk away, a little wobbly and stiff, but free of pain at last. We talked about this right? Good news. Get that disc trimmed down to size.
It'll help a lot if you keep your weight down post-op, while it heals. It will take up to 5 years for all the effects to settle down and the nerve damage/numbness doesn't really get any better, but no pain. Yeah!
That's good news, Kozz, I'm glad to hear it. Sounds like good advice from Simon too. And you'll have to be careful with your guitar-playing posture, which is always a challenge.
But don't throw away the walking stick. I hope you never need to use it again for walking, but it could be a useful part of your shtick; when you're not playing, you can be Kozzo Eindhoven, the guy who sits next to the singer and bangs on the floor.
I gave myself a bad case of sciatica a while back, carrying something really heavy and then bending to put it down, I felt something "go" in my back.
It was so bad that for a few days I could hardly get out of bed without a feeling of being electrocuted with 10,000 volts when I tried to walk..
I had to take heaps of over the counter pain killers just to get to sleep.
A physio eventually gave me some exercises to do and by luck it managed to subside after a few months.. thank God...I was beginning to think I'd never be able to work again.
It comes back slightly from time to time, but I'm extra careful now not to overdo the lifting stuff.
One thing I would recommend is Alexander Technique. You'll relearn how to sit down / stand up, move in the most efficient way possible, putting the least amount of strain, and with the least amount of wear and tear as possible. Lots of 'recovering' musicians use it.
I've had lots of neck and back problems, and since I did AT this year (7 sessions in Valencia), all my problems due to unnecessary muscle tension have completely gone. I can barely feel the muscles in my whole body any more.. it's surreal.
If you contact a practicioner, they will tell you how soon after your op you can start.
The great thing about it is that once your body has 'got it', you have the knowledge for life.. so much saved pain money for chiropractors, osteopaths etc.

@Michel Thanks, but it is true if you loose your sence of humor it get even worse. Had the same problems before, so I think the anti-depressants are doin their job very well at the moment, and don’t forget the morphine

Thanks Simon, I remembered your words when I was at the neurologist. You are right about my weight, normally a 75 kg but since were getting worse I am at a reasonable 96 kg, which only makes it worse. Time again for some cycling, I really miss sporting. “No pain, no gain”….the I have/had, just wait and see what it’ll gain

Thanks amigo. We already have quite a character in Eindhoven, Jesus himself, everyday he preaches in the centre of Eindhoven.
The stick with the bended head really looks great. Not totally straight, more like a branch…real authentic and it follows compass from minute 1. When I am old, I would like to do that next to a guitar player.
@Ron Thanks man! We make so many “bad” movements with our back, we don’t even realize and take it for granted that it might hurt sometimes. Some good exercises can prevent a lot. I did some Mensendieck therapy, and will start again with it, a good posture prevents a lot too. And I found a physio who is specialized in guitarists and their funny pains.

I did sleep some 3 hours today already, having a break now from an hour, some thee and “candy’s” and back to bed again.
Does either have a concealed sword? Walking sticks are supposed to double as ninja weapons, everybody knows that.
I guess you were right....do you have any experience with it? I find it rather troublesome BTW: Respect for our older people who walk with it day and night, its rather hard I must say.
