It's cool to see one of the greats playing such guitars. I was thinking of buying one (and saw the Flametal guy using one). The awesome thing about them is that they apparently come with some sort of MIDI output that you can plug into your PC. I know of a program (AudioScore) which claims it can transcribe polyphonic music with high fidelity if done through MIDI (I have a friend with an electronic piano who uses this software, and it comes up with all the scores for him, with high quality results, as he says). I thought it would be great to have such a feature (because I can compose a lot of stuff, but not always write it out in standard notation). It might help.

Plus, you can hook up effects and such for some great tricks.

Does it pick up the golpes though?

Well the guitar looks like shiat but seem to work very good! And since Im not interested at all in "Style"... if the guitar is good playable, good sound and good priced..I would go for it. Why not. Funny design..

Would be interesting to try out such a guitar, to see how the playability and "setup" is.

For Rumba it could be great.
And the sound in the Flametal vid, isn't that bad either.
And no problems with feedback anymore.

But i think the for other palos, it would lack in sound (specially basses).

I dont like the sound, but that is only from judging the videos. Sounds "flat" compared to the pure acoustics and plasticy. Judge yourself:

But if you amp it the difference to a flamenca might be not so big anymore.

Agree with Deniz, except I'm not judging for videos only, but had a chance to try one.... PLASTIC sound.... and feel...

what was surprising for me is that the action of the guitar, which wasn't that good I expected.... maybe that's just for me but I don't like those guitars

though I enjoyed a lot my childhood's Iron Maiden in this unique version

Wow!

I haven't heard Ben Woods play for a few years now since he started his Flametal thing.

Excellent Sevillanas and he's definitely got his own vibe and groove or "propio sello".

One of the most enjoyable pieces I've heard in ages.

The guy is definitely a real musician. (as compared with just a good guitar player)

Some people can make a plank of wood sound good

but I wasn't that keen. Would be great to have a plug in tho - get so fed up of mics and feedback.

i tried one of these in a shop and didnt like it at all. the sustain was waaay too strong. and the sound wasn't natural by any acoustic guitar standard. but the playability was nice.

but these guys make them sound good so maybe it was just me.

there was also a bunch of confusing knobs and levers i didnt mess with.

There are plenty of guitars that feel better than this model for playing loud with pick up instead of a mic. The only reason for using THIS guitar is if you need to trigger the synth. It is a midi guitar and has tons for useful applications in this regard.

My friend indeed wanted the midi stuff but hated the feel, so he gutted his flamenco guitar and put all the electronics inside, PLUS a second pick up by fishman only using the mic so he could get the golpes. That was a great guitar.

One warning is the pick ups of the goden I think are made by LR Baggs. They are gold and have a "V" that the string sits in. When doing hard picados near the bridge, it happens that you can pop the string out of the groove. My friend fixed that by filing the groove to more of a "U" shape. He talked to the designer about the problem but they did not ever hear of such a problem from other players.

So, then David used this here in Casa Patas to trigger a Synth?
If so, then it must have been something else, another piece. not this video.
I don't hear any synth here in this piece, just the normal guitar.

yeah, sound is not good (at least in this vid with Guadiana and other videos i saw, except that one from Flametal is ok)
thats why i am wondering why David used it there with Guadiana.
