check out this guy's weird technique 

he's really using his thumb like a pick. edit: nevermind, it's a pick.


here's him playing bulerias. fast forward to 1:30. he just noodles around in the beginning.

In the top one he's definitely holding an ordinary pick. I quite like it, makes it sound a bit like an oud.

he plays the first 7 or 8 notes with his thumb, the rest is played with a pick.

edit: no sorry, just an optical illusion , everything is played with that pick

oh, my bad. now i see it. that bastard used a white pick! that's why i couldn't see it.

he gets a pretty nice sound out of his thumb (when he uses it), imo.

THAT'S MORAITO CHICOS BULERIA!!!

Man, it sounds cool even when it's not him playing it.
This guys has replicated it perfectly.
The rasgueados don't have the same crispiness though.

The title in japanese says "flamenco training"
