RE: Greate Picado exercises from Nor... (in reply to Florian

I am also working on picado finger crossing strings especially the awkward crossing up (to treble strings) with I leading and down to bass strings) with M leading.

There can be lots of extra and unneeded movement in the cross that slows everything down. In my case lifting the finger further away from the soundboard than needed. I'm ironing that out and noticing immediate improvement from just having the mental focus.

Jason has a simple but great exercise on his site for string crossing and addressing the imbalance between whether I or M is leading . I won't do him the dis-service of repeating it here, maybe ask him for it- I find him to be a generous man.

Those sound nice Flo.
I just wanted to share one that I saw in a video by this amazing kid

the first few seconds of the vid.
I think that this one is great for both hands and since doing this one I feel like I have more control of the guitar. It's good to do these exercises all the time for warmup not just once in a while.

Of course not, although it would have been better to include a link because you've taken the exercises out of their context. For example, it would have been a good idea to point out that those are three different patterns posted one after another. Doesn't matter; like you said, I posted about this the other day. Here's the link:

Yes. On the website, the first picado exercises (muted) come from Juan Martin, I've been told. I thought I came up with them on my own, but it's either a coincidence or someone told me about them a long time ago and I forgot.

The exercises that you've posted are 100% mine. I have to say, though, that they're based on a very simple idea that I just played with until it fit some patterns, so maybe there are other similar exercises out there.

lol thats a nice polite way of telling me off .jk..i know but the idea was to keep people here...interested and discusing ...really all you need to know is to try them all with MI and IM right ? even to try with 3 fingers as Grisha would advice...even MA and IA...whatever combination you can think of

Yeah, try all the combinations, make sure you're never repeating with the same finger, and look for the way to minimize finger movement when moving to a lower-pitched string. The last one is the most important for these exercises, because otherwise they're just scale patterns.
