What is going on here at 6:47, seems like he Paco is playing the picado but I can't really hear the first few picado notes?

Seems like he may have made a mistake with the left hand and stopped his right hand from making contact with the strings?

Looks like he is deliberately playing tapado/palo seco.

How do you know? Did you play it yourself? I have some people close to me that did play that guitar and felt it was crap.

Is that Paco's stage guitar, the same one he was playing for several decades?
Many years ago a friend from Serbia told me that one of his friends had a chance to play Paco's guitar at a home party after the concert, in the 80s or 90s, and the guy supposedly said the same thing, that the guitar was crap.

The video of Alegrias is not well balanced sound wise. I notice he is playing extra hard on the notes that are coming through clearly. He plays a little softer and zero sound, thanks to the compression, throughout the video. The cajon in particular is way too loud. He is just running up a scale but the notes are covered by the noise until he gets to the first string.

Right, totally missed to look at the left hand cause ouch... I guess I am so used to hearing the strumming at that part as it's on a live album (which btw I love, that strumming and the falseta after is one of my favourites in the piece)

Makes sense, thanks.
