Paco de Lucía top ten.

Hola amics,

I'd like to start listening to Paco de Lucía. I have done a search of the foro and although it seems strange I got no hits.

There is so much to choose from I was wondering what your top ten Paco de Lucía downloads are.

i think it's best for you if you listen in a chronological order, you can follow the evolution of his playing and composing this way very well...all his albums contain gems, some are more technical than others, the earlier stuff is closer to traditional flamenco, while the later stuff are like they're composed by a completely different person...i like Siroco and Luzía the most, but you'll have to decide yourself which Paco you like to listen to...

One of the great things about Paco de Lucia, apart from his shaving technique, is that his music has evolved a lot over the course of his career. I would recommend that you start from the beginning, his first releases, and work your way up the years. All of his stuff is great.

My favorites are:

La Fabulosa Guitarra de Paco de Lucia
Fuente y Caudal (especially the tremolo section of the Taranta)
Almoraima (Im really into Almoraima, the Buleria, right now)
Cositas Buenas
Siroco
Luzia

I'm not that into his music with Al Di Meola or John McLaughlin, but thats just right now...I'm sure later on Ill start to like it.

Stuff I like best and come back to most often are the first three or four records with Camaron, his record with Maria Vargas, and the one with El Lebrijano.

I agree with srshea. Pacos best recordings are the ones with Camaron. Thats the turnpoint of flamenco.
