and in my spare time.....

... when I'm not learning flamenco guitar or dance, I learn bass guitar. Been taking classes for 4 months now, and just did my second band workshop tonight. Here's a photo that makes it look like I know what I'm doing!

Yeah the nails thing is a real dilemma - flamenco teacher wants them longer, bass teacher wants them short! But what I'm learning from bass is not just how to play but also about harmony and how different guitar lines fit together.

That's how I started learning music, with african and brazilian drumming. It's been a fantastic influence in my life and has really helped me get through dark patches, like when one of my kids was really sick last year.

don't tell me, you also play violin in an orchestra, you're a part time pilot, amateur rocket scientist, read 4 national broadsheets daily and you're just romping through war and peace for the third time.... how do you fit it all in?
