Hassan Hakmoun at Joe's Pub

Off topic but in the neighborhood, thought I'd share some shots of my friend Hassan Hakmoun, the Moroccan Gnawa bass player, performing at Joe's Pub this past weekend. Brahim, the Oud player, was amazing, clean and fast.

Is this something like Dhafer Youssef or Rabih Abou-Khalil?

There actually isn't a great video of Brahim playing Oud anywhere but lots of him doing percussion. I'm doing to have to rectify that. Here's a video of Hassan and Brahim in Mexico:
