Question for luthiers about saddle

Just noticed that the original plastic saddle that I replaced on my guitar has a very slight radius at the bottom. In other words, its bottom edge is not straight, but slightly concave from low E to high E.

My guitar's top is domed like the solera-made ones, but I'd always assumed that the bottom of the bridge slot was perfectly flat, so the bottom of the saddle would have to be flat too.

In fact, the OE plastic saddle is so flexible that the string tension would probably push it flat IF the slot bottom were flat. The saddle in effect would be "spring-loaded," actively pushing the middle strings upward at the bridge.

I've not had an opportunity to check if my slot bottom is flat. WIll try to see next time I change strings. I'm not sure I know HOW to check this in the first place.

Is the shape of the saddle bottom important at all? Any comments from the luthiers on this forum would be appreciated.
