Yes, the tusq is originally white, or to be more precise it has similar color like bone.. well I'm not sure about what kovachian says, cause during rumba technics or whatever, I think the strings can move on quite hardly, and this nut means some more flexibility. Of course this wasn't the first reason I gave it a try, but the different sound. The website of graph-tech changed so far, and I didn't browsed it over again since that, but they used to have quite detailed information about how this material changes the sound in several ways. I choose the black ones, cause I thought it's gonna match with the new tuners which I liked a lot. anyway, it's not a must, it's just an option I've decided to choose, and after all I'm satisfied with the sound AND the look as well... By the way the luthier who installed and carved them to perfectly fit size mentioned that it was so easy to work with it, and he liked it alot...
