Hey Matic, what happened to the horse? It's all very well using a picture of Gerardo struggling to keep up with you, but he's hiding your face anyway. I miss the horse.

Wow Flo Australian news is quite different from the UK variety. After reading that link I did a little browsing and found this one:

Worrying, no?

wow, thats a big t.v. be careful with what you watch on that thing, you might get a seizure!

you know how much RAM i had on my laptop when i first got it? 128 mb!
i could have picked my nose, took a shower, did my laundry, ran naked in traffic, had lunch, saved the world, go food shopping come back and it would still be loading up. i've maxed out the RAM to 1gb and its pretty fast now. upgrading ram and defragging the computer does wonders for a computer.

do you have to install any software when you upgrade your processor? or do you just stick it and start it up like with ram?

ok, since you're using foro money for these new toys, and now you got a faster computer, you're obligated to upload more goodies! you can start with your whole flamenco collection. ..

it can actually break?! reminds of something i watched the other night. the main characters crash landed on an alien planet and the only human inhabitants were large, female amazonian women who had a strong disdain for men. they would punish the men by crushing their pelvises and thus kill them through "snoo snoo."

i wonder if these jamaican guys actually look forward to snoo snoo or maybe they're actually scared of it.

i'd be scared

I am a proudly naturalized American. Born in Venice, Italy –not the California beach- and raised my own self in New York since the immature age of 23 years. I have spent the second half of my life in this country, which I love and felt as my home since first landing at JFK in 1986.

Or –more bluntly put- I am an immigrant!!

Ok ..thats officially spooky. I am from a small village just outside Norwich also.
Not only that but Guitarist and forum member Philip John Lee is also from just outside Norwich and one of the top Uk Guitarists Steve Homes is also ...from just outside Norwich. Is this the breeding ground of Flamenco in the UK?

Aha, here's the Jerez connection:

"The Romans had their regional capital at Venta Icenorum on the River Tas to the south which is near modern-day Caistor St Edmund, about 5 miles to the south of Norwich. This fell into disuse around 450 AD, before the Anglo-Saxons settled on the site of the modern city, founding the towns of Northwic (from which Norwich gets its name), Westwic (at Norwich-over-the-Water) and the secondary settlement at Thorpe."

Of course; not to mention "entre sábanas de Norfolk" and "déjame pasar, que voy
a Norwich, que es mi morada..."

There are many other references made by great cantaores - if only you know how to hear them correctly. A few examples:

(tanguillos)

yo te juro mi Norwich
que no te miento
que aunque no estoy contigo
te llevo siempre en el pensamiento

placita chica de Norwich
la tierra de más salero
nunca te falta alegría
aunque no tengas dinero

(tangos)

si alguna vez vas a Norwich
pasa por barrio Pimientito

(bulerias)

(tientos)

de Norwich han venido
varios pintores
válgame Dios, Gertrudis
cuando yo te llamo
¿por qué tú no acudes?
a pintar a la Virgen
de los Dolores

(siguiriyas)

hospitalito de Norwich
a mano derecha
allí tenía la madrecita de mi alma
la camita hecha

(alegrias)

quien te ha robaíto a ti el color
que estás tan descolorida
un gitanito de Norwich
con palabras y fantasías

(even tarantas:)

Soy del reino de East Anglia...

LOL, must be something in the dumplings

Ay! arsa y toma,
Que toma y que toma
Si tu eres romano
Y vienes de Roma
Si vienes de Roma
Yo vengo tambien
Si tu eres de Ipswich
Yo soy de Norwich

(bulerias de Norwich)

i'm actually quite close to the "frontera" between Norfolk and Suffolk, hence my aficion for the cantes of Suffolk too;

Saxmundham, Saxmundham,
Que bonita esta Saxmundham,
Cuando le ponen al puente
Las banderitas gitanas

(tangos de Suffolk)

"banderitas gitanas" of course translates as "gypsy bunting"

Sorry Ron, but I didn't want to get too esoteric!

But you remind me of other classics like the Tanguillos del Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway, because of course the tradition of English Flamenco is not limited to the Norwich-Cambridge-Ipswich "Triangle" as some zealots would have us believe. And further afield there are my particular favourites (mi herencia) the cantes sidreros and wurzelianas.

Ricardo,

I love the star shaped house man.

Hey how come all the steets in your area have Scottish names?

(Durness, St.Andrews, Prestwick, Falkirk)

Is there some Ancient deid Celt buried in a funeral mound in the centre o' there there or somethin' ?

cheers,

Ron

Country: Norway
City: Kongsberg (an hour's drive from Oslo)

LOL checked Ricardos link to that map site, did a little search on my own, and now suddenly I know how to drive from Ricardos star shaped house to Kongsberg in North Dakota.
