RE: classical pieces (in reply to minordjango

I'm new so I'm doing mostly studies. This is what I've covered to date. The last one is still in progress. I'm doing remedial work now because I neglected sight-reading for 18 months.

Still a long way to go.

  • Classical: Aguado: Etude 19 in Am
  • Classical: Sor: Opus (?), No.3 in C
  • Classical: Sor: Opus 60, No.2
  • Classical: Dowland: Parlement, The
  • Classical: Narvaez: Guardame Las Vacas (Short Variation)
  • Classical: York: Snowflight
  • Classical: Carcassi: Opus 60, No.1

La cathedral is great, there's an old Taranto solo from PDL where he snuck a bit of part III into a falseta, listen to the sample of this track. It is a great arpeggio/picado study.

I play Recuerdos and Asturias with castanuela accompanyment, which I'm sure most classical guitarists would vomit at the sight of

"Valses Poeticos" from Granados has some great movements in it too.

And not to forget the Bach lute suites! Like riding a bike, you never forget how to play them

thats a cool idea, its music should be to have fun, oh yeah john valse poeticos has some amazing ideas, i mean composition- is stunning a big learn, as to some of the Lute suites, beautiful ideas, i was writing a tientos the other day, and then i suddenly stole this idea from Bach and it almost worked hehe.

there is a wealth of music out there, roland dyens also has some great piece.
i should look at old danza paragua again Barrios, i t has a few streched in it, i was going through some Serranito and noticing he uses a lot of streaches, especially when i dont often use a capo!!!

Yeah. When my teacher first handed it to me I thought, "WTF?"

Found out that it's based on an old Spanish poem where a country girl offers this guy a kiss to guard her cows. Someone described it as one of the earliest sex-for-work songs in the music industry.

Wasn't an easy piece for me. I think it's Grade 4 or Grade 5.
