Housepainting -Granada style

This cracked me up and it is completley off topic.
I was coming out of the Sacromonte yesterday when I saw a guy painting a house. Now most people paint houses with ladders and rollers but i guess the street was really narrow and you wouldn't be able to get buses and traffic to pass through with ladders and scafolds in the way.
The ingenious solution- Take a large bucket of white paint, a compressor, a hose pipe, and spray the whole side of the house from top to bottom...oh yes and spray yourself and the pedestians and the street while you are at it...

Umm, did you get his movil? I need my house, car, cats and dog spruced up

Bet he didn't have a permiso either. Normal wait around here for a proyecto (roof etc.) is about 3 weeks to pass through Granada city then 3 months through the local council.

Last month a guy died in my village and 3 weeks later the roof is being replaced on his house, right next to the town hall - a miracle of red tape, bribery and connections.

Hey ho.

You got it Simon, they dont need permiso to paint a house, but you need permiso for scaffolding, so the best way is to do without.

We've been waiting months for permiso to get our roof done, not helped by mad neighbour who is objecting to the point of saying if we fix our roof he's going to put another floor on his house. It's war !!

PS Pimiento........ Emilio plays the Eshavira tonight with his 'Flamenco de Camera" if you can make it.

Well, he has to ask for a permission to do so, and you can say no. Neigbour war part 2

Fortunately, we dont have to change anything outside since the house has a new roof, so I´m doing most without city counsil permission.

Way to go Anders - I don't ask much permission any more, just forgiveness. I am learning.

But.... mi proyecto mas importante y mas caro is to replace my crappy asbestos roof with a nice new roof terrace and it is going to cost me 6000 Euros. Just to submit plans!

No guarantees and no timescales for the licence to be granted. A new "law" in 2006 (nice).

Now decent architects around here i.e. the best ones, refuse to do business with the toothless oafs in mi ayuntamiento.

My opinion is that they say yes, eventually. It's just that the time to make a decision is in inverse proportion to their actual importance.

Don't get me started!

Well here are the results. Particularly impressive is the quantity of paint on the roof and surrounding foliage......
