it's 8.36X10^-6 Mb, but if you meant '8,388,608' then app. 8.4 megs

i feel a sudden urge of nerdiness welling up! it's actually 8.192MB since a KB is 1024 Bytes. everything in a computer works in numbers that are power 2, that's why you always see figures 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024 etc. so, in a binary world 1024 is a round number.. also Mb and MB are different animals. b for bit, B for Byte
Byte = 8 bits.

don't encourage me, i might start drawing diagrams of ripple-carrey adders and crap. my mind is polluted by useless computer knowledge..

Megabyte is ambiguous but when coding, calculating disk file sizes or dealing with RAM it's 8 MB dead:

1 Kilobyte = 1024 bytes
1 Megabyte = 1024 Kilobytes

ergo 1024 x 1024 x 8 = 8388608 bytes

If I am wrong, there are some huge systems out there (that I designed) that are just accidents waiting to happen - yikes!

oh, by the way, now that you're here, i get an error: "unpermitted action 8004006" or something similar when i try uploading a new avatar. any clue? i can check the exact error report..

The avatar has to be under the permitted file size AND 145 X 145 or less pixels, try it. If not, I will check with our hoster.

it is 100x100 and 5KB in size. funny thing is i get this on the entire foro website from time to time..

still doesn't work. same error message. tried different files. .jpg and .gif 100x100 and 5-10KB. perhaps someone else can try it to see if it's just from my computer/account.
