I liked it. It left you hanging. Was Tony about to get whacked or possibly arrested? Was something going to happen to Meadow? Those guys in the restaurant could have been hitmen or undercover Feds. Or, just regular guys and nothing was going to happen to Tony.

Somebody wrote on another forum that in the credits the guy who went to the bathroom in the final scene was listed with the same last name as Phil. So, he surmised that the blackout was Tony getting wacked.....

Hi Mark2,

That's not correct. The guy who went to the bathroom in the final scene was simply listed as "Man in Members Only Jacket". None of the men in the diner were listed as a Leotardo. Phil's last name.

... Pretty much sums it up.

From what I read in an article before the finally aired, the writer of the show could not make up his mind about how to end the show. Should he go the "cliche" route and have Tony wacked? The rise and fall of mob movies? Or should he have tony live? They filmed three different endings. It is apparent to me that he couldn't make up his mind about how to end it. Not to mention, the entire episode was pretty drab. I picked up on the "things never change with the sapranos theme", but it was just a bland episode to begin with. And wahts the deal with Phil? Good thing I didn't reach over to pet my cat, or I would have missed the whole thing and had no idea he was dead. Not important I suppose.
