Emilio Maya

Just came from Granada, I had classes with Emilio he teaches in his new studio (muy flamencito :) to accompany baile, cante, compositions and flamenco improvization. He knows it all, and he is a very complete teacher.
Emilio has two different shows he performs with his compositions from his first cd and from the second to come, also with a violin (Maya she is amazing too), cantaor, y bailaora .
He has a great personality and makes you smile everytime you see him.
I whish i could stay there longer.
Emilio is truely amazing and can make a cheap guitar sound like 10000000... euros . One of the best concerts you can see in Granada.

I just saw this post, will tell Emilio, he'll be very flattered you say such nice things about him and Maya as well !! Glad you enjoyed the classes and Granada. Next time pass by the studio and say hello we're just round the corner from Emilio's school.

how ? it would have been nowhere near "Posts Since Last Visit"

I think you must have super natural powers wherever the name "Emillio" appears

I am sure Emilio would be a brilliant teacher, i have transcribed some of his litlle bulerias cierres and rithms myself.

how ?

I looked at the most active posts ! Actually it was pretty low down but it's raining here and I was just looking at stuff I've missed. My computer assumes because I've gone to the recent posts that I've read them and the next time just gives me recent posts again, new ones. I should have it buzz or something everytime some-one mentions Emilio to give my psychic powers a rest

Oh and please please if anyone transcribes stuff of Emilio's he would be absolutely delighted to get copies.

Just heard that Cadiz and Sevilla are flooding, off to watch the news. Today they commemorate Franco's grave, fascists salutes, skinheads, uniforms, glad it rained on them !

I'd be interested too!! I can't think of another album with so many songs I'd like to one day learn. I'm trying to figure out the zapateo but ah, I'm so bad at this right now :) Flo, when you have some of his stuff tabbed out, post it!!

EDIT: Actually, I'd be interested to see the intro stuff to Cazuela. I like the chords he uses. What key is the buleria in? (sorry for a noob question!!)

RE: Emilio Maya (in reply to maestroflamenco

Thanks Kate I will

ramparts Emilio told me one of his students tabbed the Rondena and the Zapateado already.

The buleria is cejilla 4 and it starts with the E and F chord
(like this E, E, F, E :-)

When Emilio performs he starts with the Minera and then switch to the Zapateado like a one composition and it's a little different from the cd,
very beautiful.

Thanks maestro! Hmm, I wish that student would find their way to the foro already Kate, by all means please post it, hopefully someone will be able to work with it, but I've got my hands full trying to work out how to get another rondeña's sheet music score (Oracion by Sanlucar) to tab...and damn is it a pain!! haha

Hmmm, is it cejilla 4 or 5? Sounds like 5 to me, if he's going E-E-F-E (the actual chords sound basically like A-A-B-A), and with the top two strings open on the "F" chord.
