Ok ok, the Esteso is the thing, forget the others. You really want over 14K???? I am seriously interested...you can't find that guitar easily in good shape. How about 8K???

I mean I would like to have one like that, but that is expensivo. I would have to sell a couple guitars I have now, and I don't think it would be worth it.

Hey Ricardo !

Good to hear from you.
No doubt about it, 14K is a lot of moolah. Is the guitar worth it ? I suppose to the right person it is. I was offered 15K for this guitar about 4 years ago from a Japanese collector. I wasn't ready to sell then & turned him down. Unfortunately, I've since then lost his contact info; [ darn!], but "c'est la vie !"
No regrets about that though. It just gave me another 4 years of enjoying this truly wonderful 'One of a Kind" guitar !

As you probably know through 'the other' forum, I've gone through my share of flamenco guitars. Over 50 in the last 8 years or so ! Many of those were Condes. As a matter of fact, didn't you or a friend of yours end up with one of my Felipe A 26's ?...
Anyways, my point is, having had that many guitars pass through my hands, I feel that I'm in the fortunate position of having a lot of reference points in terms of guitars. Having said that, I can definitely say that this '72 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso ( built by Faustino Conde ), ABSOLUTELY has the most unique character in terms of sound of all the guitars I have owned. & that includes my '83 Reyes !

Getting back to this guitar being for 'the right person'...
I personally think that person would have to be a collector or a very advanced player. This guitar is not for a 'newbie'.
It is not a 'forgiving' guitar. There's no 'hiding' poor technique behind a chiming sustain. This instrument has without a doubt the shortest sustain of any guitar I've owned; [ the Barba actually comes in a close 2nd...]. The clarity of notes in fast runs is Fantastic ! BUT... you must be on top of your game, or this guitar will hang you out to dry !

I'm sure many of you have read somewhere or another how Paco de Lucias '75 Faustino Negra is 'hard' to play ? I think that this '72 is similar. It's not that it's 'hard' to play, but simply the player must know 'how' to play it. Basically, you must be in control of this girl ...
The analogy that I can draw is that this guitar is like a Ferrari...
Anyone can 'drive' a Ferrari; but only a precious few people can actually "!!! DRIVE !!!" a Ferrari. ( If you get my drift...)

So, is this guitar 'worth' 14K ? Maybe. To 'The Right Someone'; [ see above]. Would I sell it for 8K ? ... Sorry, no. 10K?... Maybe...

Without meaning to sound 'cocky'; I can only say: "Find another one like this..." It'd be tough, really...

Ciao;
Rudy

Hey Rudy,

Good luck on selling that guitar. It seems like a world class instrument. I think Ricardo would definitely fit the "very advanced player" category. Ricardo has no poor technique.

Un saludo, Errol

Hi Ricardo & Errol;

Yes Ricardo, at the moment the '72 Esteso is still available. I think any instrument in this price range doesn't exactly "Fly off the shelf!"...
Lots of interest, but no 'acceptable' offer yet.

You're right Errol; Ricardo would be a "Prime Candidate" for this guitar.
Quite frankly, after seeing some of your videos Errol, you're right up there too man !

Ciao!
Rudy
