Guitar "conversion" - righ...

I play left handed & was told by a guitar seller/repairer the following: "I do not have any left handed flamenco guitars. However since they are essentially symmetrical inside it is relatively easy to convert a right one.
My question is would this have a negative effect on the guitar? Is it feasible to just "switch" the strings etc? Would such a "switch" create off the charts fret buzzing? What about the "golpeador?"
Again, any advice is always greatly appreciated.

As a lefty who has converted many guitars, you should be able to do this regardless if the top is braced symmetrical or not. As long as you have a straight fingerboard that has not been tapered. If you have a bridge with an angled saddle slot, you'll have to have the slot filled in and reslotted the opposite way. If the slot is straight, no problem.

If the golpeador is like most golpeadores where the treble side covers more area than the bass sides, you can add a piece to cover more once you switch the guitar around or just leave it alone and be aware that when you golpe, you don't hit below the golpeador.
