Jerónimo is a favourite on this forum. Jim Opfer, Melchor and I have seen him live at one time or another.

You can read my review of his London performance last year here...

if you want more information about jeronimo, you can visit his site:

http://www.jeronimomaya.com

His technique is amazing, however, he's even better person than guitarist. That's a common feature of all the greatest, their humanity. Such a humble genious ... a MUST.

Greetings,
David

Yeah. You must see him live. He's soooo great. I saw him a month ago. I also met him, but unfortunately my spanish is too poor for a proper conversation and he didn't speak english so all I could do was to ask him to sign the cd. harr harr

David i have heard that also from a dancer that knows him, she says hes an amazing person, really humble with a heart of gold.

I think when it comes to technique noone touches Jeronimo atm...
I am not too crasy about his cd compositions but then again it might just be me, now if u had Jeronimos technique with Vicentes musical ideas it would just be superhuman.

RE: Jeronimo Maya (in reply to Florian

I will have to agree with that Florian. I love Jeronimo's phenomenal playing but IMO it lacks in musicality. However to each his own.

Hahaa. My first post on this forum.

I felt i had to comment on this because I about 2 months ago, Jeronimo was in Finland (where I live) to have a concert and also a 5 day guitar course. Well... I have only been playing for 1 year (im 15 years old btw) and I think during those five days I learned more than during my whole time playing flamenco.
His technique is amazing. He only made about 3 mistakes during those 5 days (when he made a mistake during a falseta by his father he said "If my father was here, I he would not be very happy"). He just has worked on every technique so much, that it is becomming flawless.
I took some video clips during the course with my digital camera (not great quality) but i'm not sure can i post them here. A) they are rather large files. B)Is there a copyright law for that or something? But I'm more than happy to share them if there is a way.

Niklas,
Welcome to our Forum!
Wow! Everybody would love to see your video clips of Jeronimo!
Is there any chance you can put them up on your own ISP server and give us a link?
The upload size on this site is quite limited.
There are no real copyright problems here IMO since you shot the video yourself with his knowledge, so the copyright would in effect be yours.
Anyway post them and we'll worry about the Legal stuff later..

cheers

Ron

Tervehdys, Niklas!

It's nice to have another Finn here in forum. We're so rare. Henrik, How was that guitar course on Nordisk flamenco fest? I was about to come and see G. Nunez but my money situation unfortunately wouldn't allow me.

Welcome Niklas, visit often.

I can give you an FTP site to another site if your videos are bigger than 2Mb each. If not, put them in Flamenco Audio & Video Uploads here http://www.foroflamenco.com/tt.asp?appid=0

I will see what i can do with the videos. I'll try and set them up on a website somewhere. They are from 9mb to 55mb in size. But now I need to go to school so I'll look in to it a little later today.

Thanks for the warm welcome everybody!

RE: Jeronimo Maya (in reply to Niklas

Ok... I calculated that i need about 300mb of space for all the videos. I can get 100mb for free on the web, but that wont be enough (i could change the videos from time to time?). So if anybody has some other suggestions on where I should put them, i'm all ears.

Escribano. You said you could give me an FTP to another site if they are big files. Is 300mb too big? I can ofcourse just put a few up at a time.

Did not know where else to post this so I thought it was relevant in this thread. Playing starts at 10'18" with one of my favourite pieces from his Como Soy CD.
