Any of our members meet up periodica...

I would love to find some people in the NYC area interested in doing this once every month or two, assuming our skills are comparable or complementary : )

It's been my experience that there are flamencos in NYC you can find to take lessons, and to do giigs, but few to actually play and practice with if you are an intermediate to advanced player. I understand why - it is such a demanding hobby if you don't make money at it, and people's tastes vary widely. Still, music is meant to be a social, fun activity and when you primarily play by yourself, you're truly missing a lot of what it has to offer. I'm in this category.

Curious if any other members on here live locally and practice or play together.

I am also from the area. There is pretty much nothing that I am aware of that kind. There were some group classes held sporadically by Pedro Cortes, Basilio Georges and Jose Moreno. But that was pre-quarantine and my impression people eventually drop out and activities go to halt. Last time I participated in smth like that was about 3-4 years ago.

In general I feel the NYC flamenco is in bad shape, and I mean for professionals primarily but so as much for the hobbyists.
