Decorative bindings

I ran out of binding and inlay strip and between builds so at a stage where I'm thinking about things. I decided to get a stock of my own strips together. As a starter, black mixed with Latvian birch ply. Seems to work and using the ply helps to build a decent block without taking forever (although it still seemed like that at the time). Most of you will be familiar with the process but a quick doc to chart this and the results. Now what is my next build again........

Nice! The cross grain in the ply adds an extra dimension to it, too.

Thanks Rob, it's a bit of graft getting this done but having done it once and got the method, I'd do it again. I've just discovered a new veneer warehouse that has a great selection of leaves, so I might be inspired to do a few variations. I can see I'll need to stock up on birch ply too.

Wow looks great. Nice even cuts! I want to try this and some rosette tiles but looking for a good source of veneers. Luthier supply is expensive

Yeh, that is half the battle. I found a warehouse in East London that has a lot of stuff. You have to buy the whole leaf though and they are anything from 6 to 24 inches wide and anywhere between 10 and 15 foot long. Might seem expensive at the time but this way it goes a lot further. I'm feeling quite inspired to go back and get some more now - and some different colours.
