Dogal Strings

Hello. I am starting this thread to share my experience with Dogal strings. I have tried Diamante in the past but never got a proper video or comparison to post. Diamante will be next though as at the moment I am trying Dogal Maestrale.

Dogal Maestrale has a material that is not used in the treble strings by other companies and the colour of this nylon is blue. It is a bit stiffer than normal nylon and feels a bit harder, so the low tension here has the same feel of tension as the medium D'Addario EJ45. It is definitely brighter. Given this brightness the 1st string might sound a bit harsh on some guitars and that is why Dogal includes an additional diamante 1st string in their classical Maestrale sets. Overall, although a bit pricier than normal, the Maestrale worth the try, especially if you tend to like fluorocarbon strings more than nylon. They are thicker than fluorocarbon trebles.

P.S. I have read somewhere that this blue nylon is used for medical purposes originally and when I told that to a student of mine that is a doctor, she was sure it is the same nylon they use for stitches

The 3rd string sounds pretty strong too.

By the way I already changed them to the Diamante preparing for the next comparison. I really like the Diamante sound and feel, they were just the ones that took forever to settle and the basses then were unwind over the frets. Dogal said they fixed that so fingers crossed.

Very expensive and the D string lasts maybe 2 weeks at most.
I agree that tension feels higher, so Low feels like Medium.

RC Strings Dynamic White is much cheaper with same sound profile but much more balanced trebles and (at least on my guitar) very easy to play and sounds amazing.

Every guitar reacts differently to strings so its subjective and personal.

Here is the Diamante finally. I have revisited them as I really liked the trebles but the basses got destroyed in 1 week, some years before that I tried them.

Well they fixed this and they are amazing as a whole set. The trebles were full and clear and singing and the basses have a very nice sound and feel for flamenco too, being flexible with a nice punch.

What cannot be heard on the video:

Dogal Diamante is a very comfortable and satisfying set to play. Tension wise they are the same as the EJ45 but the Diamante have a softer and nicer feel. They are not the fastest to settle so you have to give them some days before a concert or recording and not change them the same day for sure. The Diamante sound very good for Bach and for flamenco if that makes sense.
