Flamenco Guitar for camping and such

So I’ve been googling all damn weekend and still can’t settle my mind.. thought some amigos here could maybe help! I’m looking for a flamenco guitar I can take around with me to Camp, Hike, you name it. So nothing over $500 or so as I dont want to fret(😬) taking it outdoors and such. I’m More than interested in 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 sizes but full sized recommendations work too!

One stipulation I have is the guitar MUST NOT be made in China.. and is preferably in the flamenco style not the classical.

All suggestions tho are welcome so thanks in advance!☺️

Sincerily, Massimo.

Here here to that.

But presumably a key aspect is what are you going to carry it in? I imagine needs to be light, protective and fully waterproof.

While this screams secondhand one option might be an Alhambra Z Nature classical guitar. Seems to offer a few characteristics. Dirt cheap. Made in Spain. Might be worth a look. alhambra-z-nature

I assume it is available your side of the pond.

Any chance of an invite to the campfire? Sounds bundles of fun.

Ha, more than welcome..,I looked into some Alhambra guitars and read a few suggestions that their budget friendly guitars (like most) are outsourced to China.. of course its just word of mouth I didnt extensively verify it. I’m certainly looking into second-hand but currently all the shops around here are closed until further notice.

Thanks Massimo I wasn't aware of that. I've emailed them to see which models are Chinese and where they will hopefully be moving production very rapidly. Cheers

Yea its very disappointing to find how many of these proud spanish luthiers and their instruments are haphazardly budgeted to China

missimo I received a reply at 7:30 am today and Alhambra assure me that all their instruments are made in Spain.

"Le confirmamos que todas nuestras guitarras están 100% hechas en España". My faith is 100% restored.

They also offer, via their website, that they are careful with wood supply and sustainability.

So put those Alhambras back on your list

I have the Yamaha Flamenco 171??. I put new tuners on it ($35 Vietnamese), bone saddle, and ported it w/3 inch round hole in upper treble bout. It transformed an already decent guitar. I do use it for my porch and camping guitar or for a quick grab for a short sofa session. This older model has a very slick bomb proof finish and seems impervious to weather changes. It really has a lot of punch and power that is very respectable. In my opinion it is the very best beater guitar out there that is still much fun to play.

I can't think what you are going to find in your budget for that price not made in china, but you might look out for a (Valeriano) Bernal Prodigio second hand (it's their lowest model). I have one I use for travel etc.

Maybe one of the followning will help:

Coroba Mini

Look for a Ukelle or Guitarlele
And for camping you take a Camps of cours :-)

No clue where all the guitars are made cause I am ignorant and do not realy care.

This is a no brainer. The obvious perfect choice is the “Camps” guitar.

Yeah, a great idea, Jason!

You can now get a FULLY carbon-fiber made nylon string guitar, both in travel size, and in full size. Both have a detachable neck for portability.

Nothing will be more rugged and able to weather the outdoors.

I should be receiving my full size one in the next 4 to 8 weeks, and I can make a review if you'd be interested to wait until then.

Hello friend. Carbon fiber is a great idea but most might be a bit over your price range.

Alhambra are indeed all made in Spain, in their factory. I see the made in Spain label all the time, as many classical guitar students I have use them.

Z Nature is great! Really. But if you want flamenco I would go for the 2F of the newer line they have with the collaboration of Carlos Pinana. The 2F does not have his name in it but he raises her very much and sound very good. I will try to find a video he sent me with a student of his playing one and I will post it here.

I see a lot of used flamenco guitars made in Japan that go for $500.
Let us know what you eventually find.
