Manuel Rodriguez e Hijos guitar

Hi everyone,

So I've stumbled upon an opportunity to buy a Manuel Rodriguez model A flamenco guitar. The strange thing is that after extensive research about the brand and all of their models, the entire internet seems to have never heard of their model A flamenco!

Most interestingly, this guitar has flame maple back and sides.

I've been playing for a few years, and looking for an upgrade on my beginners guitar, anything up to around £1000. This one is priced at about £600, but I'm not sure if that's a good deal or a ripoff. Does anyone have any insight on whether I should be interested in this offer?

Thanks.

Have you played it?? It's the brand they carry at guitar center, I've played maybe 10 -12MR guitars and never liked a single one..... It's possible they make some good guitars but I've yet to come across one and I'm not at all a picky player.

I totally agree with Leñador. Even the classical guitars provide "less guitar" for their price. Looking to flamencas, I´ve seen many of them with a too high bridge action. Regarding the sound there are better guitars in price, action and sound.

Sorry to come to this thread late but I owned a MR C3F for approx 3 years and it wasn't great. I never heard of the "A" model? I only bought it as I started lessons at the conservatory and felt I needed a flamenco guitar. I was playing an old Yamaha classical on which I installed tap plates but the action was very high. This was over 15 years ago. I too have tried many MR guitars and frankly none of them were very good, raised action and no punch. I found that one of the best starters in the past was a Yamaha flamenco, still, you have to play them before you buy. Not sure about their quality today however... I would keep looking if you haven't already purchased.

Manuel Rodriquez guitars (made by Manuel) go for big bucks.I own 3(one is made by the son Norman) I 've seen the Norman's for @$4K(Guitar center). Double or triple that for the late father's.I paid $2K in 1980 and they are terrific. The Factory models are in a world of their own w/ the cheapest going fo $3-4 hundred at Guitar center that were nice for the money
