Paco Peña’s first solo album

Just to point out, in case anyone’s interested, that there’s a copy of The Incredible Paco Peña for sale on Amazon. It ships from Germany, but it’s also advertised in the UK, US, Canada, and possibly elsewhere.

Two of the tracks have, I believe, never appeared on CD.

bummer for us folks who had turntables way back in the day and did not replace them when c.d. began their dominating run. the paco album is vinyl and not c.d. fortunately 7 of 9 pieces made it to c.d. i saw a paco and paco album--one half pena and one half de lucia.

Originally, that was just another stupid record company gimmick; but now Carnival is unobtainable, so that’s the only way to get (some, at least, of) those pieces.

Unfortunately, they left off the best track, which is Seis por derecho; the Lauro arrangement pales in comparison.

Should you be meaning this one ...

It presents the most beautiful concentration of guitar music that I have come across.
And it does not seem like a stupid idea at all to me, as the performances are fully on a par.
Paco Pena is quite underestimated.

What a "first solo album" is concerned, I bought this one from him ages ago:

Yes.

I meant the idea of coupling two Spanish guitarists simply because they were both both called Paco.

Certainly the Lucía stuff (from Hispanoamérica, of course) is well played, as always; but the material, frankly, seems to me just a collection of Latin pot-boilers, although Tico tico is fun. Philips should simply have kept both albums in print.

Looks as if the dog’s been at your copy of Flamenco vivo (I hope it’s just the cover!)

I’ve spoken to Paco about getting his old LPs reissued, but he just shrugs and says he has no control

I see now what you mean, Paul!

I had that album digitized in perfect quality and then deleted the tracks for lack of storage media. Now really regretting, as the turntable is down since years / me out of an option to listen. :O(

I find all of the songs to be in the beauty of Tico Tico, though that one admittedly being a specially bewitching one. That´s what I felt so amazing; gems one after the other.

Yeah, it´s been one of the dogs. When I leave him alone for more than ~ 5 minutes, he will take revange for being left behind. (Since his last action I havn´t taken him upstairs for more than a year, much to his regret.)
I havn´t dared looking inside the cover yet. Sparing the revelation for the day when venyls can be played again.

It is really crazy that Paco can´t have a word on his albums. That is so sick and such a pity.

I would suggest kind of a petition, but assume it would be too many labels and takeovers that needed to be addressed.

Flamenco Vivo or Paco Doble? Hispanoamérica at least is still available.
