Simple piece with alzapua

Hi all,

I'm trying to work on my alzapua, but currently the only option I have is doing very technical exercises.
The reason is that all the pieces I find with alzapua in them, are quite advanced.
I, on the other hand, am still a beginner.
Could you recommend pieces that are both simple and have alzapua in them (even if these are especially composed for students, that's great).

Thanks :-)

Its a good idea to start with pippippip (p is pulgar or thumb and i is indice or index) all p strokes are downstrokes.
This is also called old school alzapua and many Jerez playes use it a lot in tangos, bulerias por soleá and bulerias.
Sorry, I dont have an example right now, but I played a lot them when I played the guitar.

Later on, try some find some short thumb up and down alzapua rushes inside the rythmical parts of tangos, bulerias por soleá and bulerias. They are usually just some 2 - 4 bars long..

And relax and "play" with your thumb. Play as what kids do. Have fun with it. Its like juggling. Then its easy. If you take it very adult like serious, then its difficult and boring.

Can you play basic compas for solea, solea por bulerias, and tangos? If so, this lesson has Alzapua falsetas for each of those palos, as well as some other useful material.

Note: the preview clip might not play correctly. But I logged-in, and the tutorial videos all seem to work.

Thanks a lot I'll take a look. Does it with tabs/notes too, or only videos ?

That lesson includes both tabs and videos. As I recall, every lesson I've seen on that site includes tab and video.

The solea in Paco Pena's book Toques Flamenco has a nice old school alzapua falsetta just right for students.

Paco de Lucia's Jerazana off his Fabulosa Guitarra album has a relatively simple all thumbs alzapua that still sounds good when slowed right down, it's in a book of the same name.

Yeah, I found it too by searching "alzapua bulerias".
Looks promising!
