Yes.

But if you are looking for an excuse to drink less, then let's just say it makes you not as fast.

Heavy alcohol consumption is definitely messing your body
and brain up. The effect it may have on your picado is
impossible to say, but trust me, drinking heavily never helps anything.

I don't drink. I can't imagine
playing guitar while drinking.

Of course it effects you man , everything you put into your body or mind has a cause & effect , if your so far into the effect it might have already become second nature thus making you more tolerable to that effect maybe to the point you don't even notice it.

As far as drugs go illegal ones included , alcohol is one of the most punishing their is imo.

Yup, when I use to drink heavily it effected every aspect of my life. Luckily as I got older I didn't have a big problem pulling way back.
2-3 before I play live is a huge help.

This is a trick question right? If it's not, I think you have answered it yourself ...

Drinking alone isn't the problem but, and depending on one's tolerance for alcohol, if drinking leads to "intoxication" then the poisoning will impair balance and muscular system, including that of hands and fingers.

Of course, a mild intoxication may free us of stage fright and even produce a state of desirable euphoria, but it is indeed a slippery slope to the next stage, when one becomes sluggish and loses the dexterity we all practice so hard to achieve.

If I may... Enjoy your drink, but don't don't let it come between you and your lucidity, or all gifts and talents nature gave us will malfunction and fail.

Cheers
[with a little pun]

being in the public health field my first thought was: why do you drink so heavily? that question probably should be asked and answered before moving onto the effects of alcohol on picado.

Drinking is good for Golpe but not picado.
Seriously though, specially fast picados require maxed out and fast brain and muscular function (and teamwork). So i think heavy drinking will affect it negatively for sure.

I drink therefore I am ..I feel bad for people who don’t drink. When they wake up in the morning, that’s as good as they’re going to feel all day.

When I drink, I see and feel 12 strings.

That's the only problem with Alcohol and guitar for me......

In the early 1960s in New York, I saw Sabicas several time in after-hours juergas at the night club Zambra. On the floor beside his chair there was always a glass of brandy. After two or three cantes or dances he would take a sip. When the glass was empty another would appear promptly. Three or four shots of brandy would last him from 2 AM closing time until sunrise in the winter. I never saw it have any effect on him. But it was a very light and controlled intake.

A friend of mine played in some of the bigger poker games in Manhattan, as did Sabicas. He reported the same thing. Throughout a night at the table, Sabicas might down two to four shots of brandy.

My friend said, "It didn't hurt his play. He won."

But I think heavy drinking would affect for the worse all aspects of your playing, as well as dulling your hearing.
