Ted Greene and Baroque improvisation

impressive control of multiple voices. it takes me forever just to learn a bach piece and the guy manages to improvise off a theme just like that.

RE: Ted Greene and Baroque improvisation (in reply to kikkoman

Who doesn't love Tedd ?

I posted the second one on another thread, and someone confused him with Tedd Nugent.

Anyway if you haven't seen it already this is great too, it is a relaxed survey of harmony gently delivered yet offering a polite rebuke to the kind of theory that doesn't really help.

Near the end someone challenges him to Bachify 'Autumn Leaves', Tedd paints himself into a corner..... then flies out of the window.

Now here we have Eddie South and Greppelli playing a Bach concerto swing style and Django winging it on guitar.

He got quite good at winging it didn't he ?

And another take where the producer apparently swiped away the score from the violinists forcing them to wing it too. Django still playing by ear, but a little freer.

And talk in complete sentences at the same time.

Unbelievable skill, knowledge, and musicality. One of the best of all time.
