US source for Flamenco CD's?

I'm down in the southern USA for a short time. While here I'd like to pick up a few quality CD's of some traditonal flamenco guitar; solo and/or accompaniment.

Any recommendations as to places where I might find a good selection of flamenco CD's in the USA?

Any help appreciated.

(Happy New Year. . .)

Hello, Britguy,

Perhaps the best selection of flamenco CDs in the U.S. is found right here in the Washington, DC area in two venues. A gentleman named Guillermo Juan Christie owns and operates both of them.

The Guitar Gallery, located in Washington, DC, has a good selection of flamenco CDs. Phone No. (202) 244-4200.

Guillermo also owns and operates the Flamenco Connection, a strictly online emporium that you can look up and order on its website: "The Flamenco Connection."

It is possible that you can call the Guitar Gallery and order from the Flamenco Connection inventory, as Guillermo runs both.

I have purchased CDs featuring Sabicas, Nino Ricardo, Ramon Montoya, and others from Guillermo, as well as cantaors Fosforito, Santiago Donday, and others.

If you talk to Guillermo, tell him Bill (the guy who is always traveling abroad) said hello.

Cheers,

Bill

Many thanks for prompt response. I'll give them a call, whatever. I'll tell them "Bill sent me". . . (The guy who tilts at windmills.. .)

I've used Flamenco Connection for years with complete satisfaction....except for one ongoing gripe. Ordering on the web page you are asked for your credit card details on an unsecure URL. I've grumbled about this a few times, but no change. You can telephone them and your order will be shipped promptly. Folks there are knowledgeable.

O.K. Richard, maybe I'll just call them. Might even learn something in the process?

Thanks. . .

Do call, Britguy, either at the Flamenco Connection or Guitar Gallery. At either one, especially if you talk to Guillermo Juan Christie, he really is knowledgeable about flamenco guitarists and cantaors, and he knows his stock. He will be a big help, particularly if you are interested in more traditional flamenco (as I am). I had been trying to locate a CD by Nino Ricardo for a long time, and he had one.

Cheers,

Bill

What about Amazon? It seems to have a lot of flamenco music CDs and MP3s. That's what I've used.

I would like to add my thumbs up for Flamenco Connection in USA. I recently made a telephone order for a couple of CDs and received them promptly within about 2 weeks (in Canada).

On a side note, my "test order" to Flamenco World overseas in May, 2012 has yet to be received.

For what it's worth, I was told that Flamenco Connection and Guitar Gallery are somehow related (i.e. ordering from one is akin to ordering from the other).

I've been to Guitar Gallery probably a half dozen times or so, and Guillermo's always been helpful. I've also ordered from Flamenco Connection a number of times, and without any problems.

Curiously, where in the southern US are you visiting?

That's what I said in my original response to Britguy above, Machpicasso. Guillermo Juan Christie owns and operates both the Guitar Gallery and the Flamenco Connection.

Cheers,

Bill
