Palmas Workshop; SF Bay Area

Hola amigos - I am passing along info regarding a workshop someone is trying to organize. It will be conducted by Ricardo Lopez. This is for the San Francisco area..

If interested, contact Danica:

danicasena@gmail.com

PALMAS workshop for FLAMENCO GUITAR/SINGER AFICIONADOS

Content: Students will listen to, see and learn how to execute proper basic palmas to the 3/4 and 4/4 time, a skill which anyone who is directly involved in Flamenco (be it guitarist, singer, dancer) must be able to produce not only "technically" but musically. Focus will also include volume/accent subtleties as well as specific patterns.

About Ricardo Lopez: There is so much to laud about this incredible artist and human being that I'll make it brief, the rest you can find out for yourselves in person. He is an internationally-renown Flamenco/Spanish Dance performer, choreographer and instructor. One of the reasons (besides his welcoming personality) that he is so solicited as an instructor is that he belongs to the category of "Maestro/a" in the sense that besides being a true artist he canactually teach and not merely "perform" in front of, or yes, worse yet, impatiently "insult" his multi-cultural students. He is dedicated to making sure that each student walk away with a deeper understanding of this intrinsically dynamic yet complicated art form. Like all great artists he is humble and yet his ever-expansive performance/choreographic curriculum would probably surpass 10 full pages.

LENGTH of Master Class: 1 hour

FEE: $25 per person (minimum 5 students, if less, you make up the difference)

DATE/TIME: Fri afternoon/eve., Sat noon-2pm. or after 6:30pm, Sunday after 2pm (11/1-11/12, 2012) To be determined based on maximum group availability.

LOCATION: SF, exact locale TBD.
